AirMech Arena & Brothers in Arms: Hell’s Highway added to Backwards Compatibility!!
Well this might be two games that almost nobody asked for. AirMech Arena is actually a free game but unless you really like real time strategy games, this is going to be a bear to play. Brothers in Arms: Hell’s Highway is a first person shooter by UBISoft that was just trying to get some FPS fans to buy it because they were bored with Call of Duty and the other games they were trying to emulate. I would say enjoy these two games but you probably won’t. So just enjoy your weekend instead.
- AirMech Arena FREE
- Brothers in Arms: Hell’s Highway $19.99 (disc copies also available)
BC Deals with Gold for the Week of March 19th, 2019
Welp, I finished Danger Zone. Went through all four tiers and got my ten platinums. Without trying, I had six platinums with regular play, and then I had an excruciating Saturday night where I got 3 and couldn’t get my fourth. So naturally, I woke up Sunday morning and got the last one in about ten minutes. Why I stay up when I’m obviously tired is never a thing I seem to figure out. As to what’s next, I might play some Road Redemption (recently received a patch which was supposed to fix the achievements). We’ll see.
We do have some very deep discounts this week. Basically if you didn’t have the base game or DLC for Deus Ex, Kane & Lynch 2, Sleeping Dogs, Thief or some of the Tomb Raider games, here is your chance to get it as cheap as humanly possible (without giving it away). I think I have everything for Sleeping Dogs (and also the X1 remastered disc) but I’ll double check on Deus Ex for sure. Maybe Thief will go BC this week with the way they are pricing everything. Most likely it will just be a random game or two. Enjoy (after the –More–).

Castlevania: Harmony of Despair added to Backwards Compatibility!
Well, I believe that was the last Castlevania game that had not made the backwards compatibility list. In fact, I’m struggling at all to think of a Konami game at all that is not BC. Perhaps Track & Field or something utterly out there (like Lucha Libre AAA) but that’s about it. But that’s how it is these days, the # of games that are not BC are down to really random titles for the most part. Here is hoping that the next random title is Gun or the Two Worlds’ games. Enjoy.

Well, I finally finished Lego Batman 2. I had not played on Monday and Tuesday and it was actually one of my better ideas since it changed the way I was looking at a couple of the puzzles (and then easily solved them) and I finished the game last Friday. By far the hardest part was probably the mini-kits on Level 13. Lego games do not allow for precise shooting and that level requires it. So it took about 10 tries before I finished the level.
So, I have started a new game in Danger Zone. I needed something where I could really turn off my brain and in this case, crash cars. I finished Tier 2 last night and while the game has its share of problems, I’m enjoying the experience. I already have over half the achievements, (8/13) and could see myself getting all of them.
Anyway, we have plenty of sales this week. There are two very interesting ones (that are also backwards compatible) you don’t tend to see on this list. Cars: Mater-National and Toy Story 3. I’m particularly interested in the Cars game even though I know its not very good. 1)My son loves the Cars series (he has watched each movie about a dozen times), 2)It’s apparently very easy achievements, and 3)It shouldn’t take long, most people estimate it takes under 10 hours to finish. But of course, I tried to get him interested in Lego Batman 2 too and that didn’t go so well. We’ll see I guess. Enjoy your week and hit the -More- for the titles on sale.

Crackdown 2 Added to Backwards Compatibility (and is currently FREE!)!!!
Sorry, I did not post this late last week. In my defense, the Major doesn’t usually post news like this on Friday night. Furthermore, this game is currently free on Xbox Live for everyone. A word of caution (though it might be fixed now), the Xbox.com link might not give it to you for free, but if you buy it on your machine, it should work out for free just fine. Just be sure it says as such. But this is great news, and a worthwhile freebie. Enjoy!!
- Crackdown 2 (Currently FREE, normally $19.99) (Also available on disc)
Reminder, the first Crackdown is also still free if you have yet to grab it.
BC Deals with Gold for the Week of March 5th, 2019
Lego Batman 2 has slowed considerably. I have finished the first ten levels as far as mini-kits go but I maybe foolishly started counting up what I had left and I’m missing one or two things so that got me all paranoid thinking there is a glitch or something. I’m about 93-94% complete, and it looks like when its said and done I’ll be right around the 99% area. So, as a result I didn’t play last night at all (watched a movie and went to sleep) and I’m not exactly jumping up to get back into it as it were. We’ll see, maybe that will change and I will be 100% by the time you listen to me next week.
Here are the sales we have for this week. Nice to see the Kingdoms of Amalur DLC on sale though I think 50% off would be a smarter option. The rest is mostly rehash unless you really have been waiting for Meet the Robinsons. Hopefully we will get another couple of BC Games this week, that always brightens the mood. Enjoy!

Games with Gold for Month of March 2019
Looks like the new Games with Gold were announced this morning. I am not sure I am fan of this trend. Let’s roll out a bunch of Xbox Originals and then use them for Games with Gold. I am sorry to say I own both Plants vs Zombies GW 2 (I rather they release the first one) and Metal Gear Rising. The only game I’m actually semi interested in is the Adventure Time game. How sad is that? That was a rhetorical question. Anyway, enjoy and hopefully you find some joy in this list.
Xbox One
- Adventure Time: Pirates of the Enchiridion (March 1st-31st)
- Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare 2 (March 16th – April 15th)
Xbox 360
- Star Wars: Republic Commando (XBO) (March 1st-15th)
- Metal Gear Rising (March 16th-31st)
Hydrophobia & Marathon: Durandal added to Backwards Compatibility!!
Where is my Outpost Kaloki X guys? Come on, seriously. This announcement reeks of two random Microsoft Studios published games, why not a third? I actually do own Hydrophobia, I believe it was on a massive sale a while back and I picked it up thinking I’ll probably play it one of these days. Well here is my chance I suppose. Marathon: Durandal is an old Bungie first person shooter which was ported over a long long time ago. Note, it does have two pieces of DLC as well. This game (and DLC) should be a lot cheaper than it is. Anyway, glad to see some XBLA titles for once and probably Hydrophobia will be a future GWG if I had to guess (you might even want to wait for the announcement this week before purchasing it). Enjoy.
- Hydrophobia $8.99
- Marathon: Durandal $9.99
- DLC w/Achievements: Jjaro Net Map Pack $4.99
- DLC w/Achievements: Total Carnage Net Map Pack $4.99
BC Deals with Gold for the Week of February 26th, 2019
Well yes I’m still playing Lego Batman 2. The good news is that I’m about 88, 89% done including the bonus level. I have started replaying through the stages, the first three are done completely. I should be done with all fifteen by this time next week. Then there will be about 5-6 gold bricks in the city that I just had the worst time with left. I’m crossing my fingers for no glitches. Toes too.
Alrighty, we have some sales this week. The Call of Juarez titles are interesting because they are now backwards compatible. However, Gunslinger is way better than Cartel so spend the money wisely. I’m confused as to why Cars isn’t backwards compatible when two of the other games in the series are (2 and Mater-National). Of course Race-O-Rama isn’t either but I digress. I could also say the same things about the gaps in Far Cry or in the Tom Clancy games too. Maybe that will change this week, we shall see. Enjoy.
