BC Deals with Gold for the Week of June 4th, 2019

Welp, back to Game of Thrones I go.  Finished up the third episode and now half way through the 4th, I haven’t played much else except a game of pinball here and there.  Oh and the usual Pirate Ship Higemaru (Capcom Arcade Collection) because I’m determined to get beyond the 9th stage.  I know, I’m wasting my time with a game that’s 35 years old.  Anyway, I suppose we have more important things to discuss.

So here are some sales.  Here is hoping that Resonance of Fate is made backwards compatible.  The Warhammer game (though unlikely) would also be a nice addition.  Actually I would just take any BC notice at this point.  It’s been a slow 30 days.  Hopefully things will change and I can start adding some exclamation points to my posts again.  Enjoy.

Games with Gold for Month of June 2019

Looks like the new Games with Gold were announced this morning. The Xbox 360 games don’t do much for me since Portal gives me headaches and Earth Defense Force doesn’t really excite me one way or another.  The big get to me is getting an actual hockey game since I haven’t really played a game of hockey in many years (I played every year back in the 90’s though).  I think the reason was because it became too realistic which is the same reason I don’t really play newer baseball or basketball games anymore either.   I will give it a try and see if I spectacularly fail or not though.  Enjoy.

Xbox One

  • NHL 19 (June 1st-30th)
  • Rivals of Aether (June 16th – July 15th)

Xbox 360

  • Portal: Still Alive  (June 1st-15th)
  • Earth Defense Force 2017 (June 16th-30th)

BC Deals with Gold for the Week of May 28th, 2019

Welp, I did not play much Games of Thrones this past week.  Got through a couple more chapters and that was about it.  I spent most of my time playing and finishing Costume Quest.  I would like to play the DLC at this point but it’s hard to rationalize spending $5 on the 1-2 hour DLC when I spent $4 on the game itself (which lasted about 8, 9 hours).  I will probably wait for my next Microsoft Rewards voucher and then purchase it at that point.

Anyway, on to sales.  Well, actually I don’t have an official link right now.  The four titles has been culled from other sources, and after the ~250 games that were on sale on the previous week (I purchased two of them), it’s hard to really come up with anything probably for this week.  Honestly they should have made this a DLC week and they would have been able to capitalize on the purchases from the previous week.  Knock off 50% on Costume Quest DLC and I would have bought it in a second.  But that’s reason, and sales rarely make sense.  Anyway, enjoy your week.  Thanks.

Wednesday PM Edit: Official Link (nothing changed)

BC Deals with Gold for the Week of May 21st, 2019

Welp, I am still playing Game of Thrones Telltale, made it through the second episode which was much better than the first.  The story was tighter and I felt more involved than the first episode.  I can see why a lot of people abandoned it.  But not stubborn me, and at least for now it seems like my stubbornness is being rewarded.  I also spent a little bit of time 100%ing Baseball Stars NeoGeo and capped off my performance with a 12-4 rout in Hi-Score mode.  Patience and perseverance.

Anyway, on to a very very large sale.  Basically this is the kind of sale that if you were waiting for a particular title that is BC to go on sale, it’s probably here.  Odd ball stuff, like the Hardwood series, the Sega Vintage Collection (I might pick up Alex Kidd), heck Word Puzzle, this is the week to get it.  It’s not so much the week to get for example, Mass Effect or Call of Duty for the multi-billion time.  So take some time to look through the list, highlight a few that look interesting (that you normally don’t see) and get them.  It might be another 6 months, year or even longer before you see many of these others on sale again.  Prices will populate today as I get time, it’s a lot :).  Everything is after the –More–.  Enjoy.

BC Deals with Gold for the Week of May 14th, 2019

Well, as mentioned last week I have been playing Telltale’s Game of Thrones.  I am halfway through the second episode (which is so much better written than the first).  I also started playing Costume Quest and I’m a few “quests” in so to speak.  It’s not bad but it’s hard to get ultra excited about a game about getting candy and I can only eat ultra specific candy these days.  (Organic, Gluten-Free, No Artificial Colors, etc)  That would be the old person talking in me I suppose.

We have quite a few sales this week.  There doesn’t seem to be any persistent “theme” in this mix, just a slather of games for us to go through.  I do find it interesting that the original Kane & Lynch is here at a deep deep sale.  I would think it has to go BC one of these days, so this would probably be a good week to pick it up.  The Final Fantasies are again on sale but with most big name RPGs, people already have the disc for these suckers.  Also, even though it will never be BC (or very unlikely), SpongeBob SquarePants Underpants Slam! is on a deep discount and has been de-listed before (and likely to be again).  If you have any desire to play it, spend the $1.49 and get it already.  Have a great week, enjoy.

Hitman HD Pack coming to Backwards Compatibility!

Another BC announcement this week. I’ve played the remastered Hitmans before and honestly they are very difficult games to play. Of course I have never considered myself a master of stealth when it comes to video games.  I never lurk well in the shadows (unless I’m playing Skyrim).  If you don’t enjoy paying the $24.99 digital price, you can try snagging a physical copy for possibly less (but that might be a harder venture).  Still, good release today and always happy to see new titles under the BC banner.

From Dust and Costume Quest added to Backwards Compatibility!!

Well this is what I call an excellent announcement (at least for me anyhow). I picked both of these up in sales a while back hoping and wishing that they would get to BC since both of them made a lot of sense.  From Dust is a UBISoft title (which they have been excellent in supporting BC) and Costume Quest’s sequel has been a BC title for a couple of years now.  So that day has come and this is also a good thing since that means XBLA games are still going to BC.  I just wish Costume Quest’s DLC was on sale this week (it would certainly fit the theme).  Enjoy.

BC Deals with Gold for the Week of May 7th, 2019

Welp, I did finish Ninja Combat Neo Geo on X1 last week.  I know I thought this might be the first one I was not able to 100%, but no…I got through it.  Like most things in the arcade world (Neo Geo included), it’s practice and perseverance (that whole “unlimited quarters” thing helps too).  I have started a new game, but it’s one you probably wouldn’t expect.  TellTale’s Game of Thrones.  I know, I know, it’s supposed to be not very good.  But I have the X1 disc, and everybody was concerned it wasn’t going to work anymore.  Well rather it was luck or good timing, I was able to download all of the episodes and I decided there was no time like the present to start playing.  So I’ll probably get through an episode a week.  And I’ll probably have to play something along side it or else I’ll get bored really quick.

Anyway, on to sales. Dubbed as the Spring Add On Sale, this listing will have a lot of DLC for you to sink your teeth into.  The usual Assassins Creed, Fallout and Mass Effect DLCs are here, but there are also a few oddball extra content nuggets like Dead Space 2 and Kane & Lynch 2.  Lots to go through, just take your time.  You have all week after all (this is more a message to myself than accusing any of you similar actions).  Enjoy (hit the –More– for all of the BC titles)!

Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge & Trials Evolution added to Backwards Compatibility!!

Well this is something of a confusing announcement.  On the surface, it looks fairly normal.  Until you realize that this does not include the vanilla version of Ninja Gaiden 3 and while there are disc copies for Ninja Gaiden 3: RE, you might be better off buying the digital for $30 since disc copies are fairly hard to come by.  Trials Evolution is also weird since it is actually a delisted game (though it might make a comeback) and I would not trust the digital listing on Amazon I saw.  Also, no disc copies for this game either.  So it’s one of those, if you already have them…great!  If you don’t, then you might just want pass this listing by.  Take care kiddoes.

BC Deals with Gold for the Week of April 30th, 2019

Well, I didn’t play too many games last week.  A round or two of Road Redemption, I played some Pinball FX3 (got the Son of Zeus table achievement) and started a Neo Geo game in Ninja Combat.  I might have picked a Neo Geo game that I can’t 100%, it’s very hard in comparison to the others I have played.  I will certainly give it a few dozen shots I’m sure but it’s going to take some doing.  We shall see.

There are some sales this week, well just be sure to like Star Wars.  It is also hard to get excited about Xbox Original sales when a few of those have already been free.  Actually most Star Wars items tend to be free at some point (if you are a Gold member of course), so we shall just see if we get a new backwards compatible game instead.  Take care and enjoy.
