BC Deals with Gold for the Week of July 2nd, 2019

Another week.  I am through episode 5 of Game of Thrones which was easily the worst episode since the first.  I can only hope that the last episode in this game series comes through to a rousing finish.  I also have played through most of Momonga Pinball and the only achievements remaining are the 45 challenges and 500 levels.  I hope to finish that in the next week or so.  Finally (yes I was able to play a lot this past week), I started and finished What Remains of Edith Finch in a mere two play sessions on Saturday afternoon/night.  It was well worth the three hours vested and probably one of the best walking simulators I’ve ever played.

I wish I could be this optimistic about the new deals posted today. It’s mostly the same schlock unless you missed Disney’s Bolt the first or second time around.  Perhaps digging into the backlog this week would be the best idea and try not to think about the mediocre summer sale.  Enjoy.

Games with Gold for Month of July 2019

Looks like the new Games with Gold were announced over the weekend. Not much to be excited about to be frankly honest.  I probably own Symphony of the Night about five ways to Sunday including the original PS1 release.  I’ll take one more, I just wish it was something a little more interesting.  Meet the Robinsons isn’t going to excite me either.  Not to mention the Xbox One “Indie” side.  Not that I hate indie games, far from it.  It’s just usually these never be the ones I really want to play.  Inside and SOTN are available now btw.  Enjoy.

Xbox One

  • Inside (July 1st-31st)
  • Big Crown: Showdown (July 16th – August 15th)

Xbox 360

  • Castlevania: Symphony of the Night  (July 1st-15th)
  • Meet the Robinsons (July 16th-31st)

Final (Hopefully Not) Backwards Compatibility List

Well, it took a couple of weeks but here is the final (hopefully not) list of Xbox 360 backwards compatible games on the Xbox One.  I only missed one game (Sonic Generations) and a few variants like the fact that the Original Xbox disc works for GTA: San Andreas or the Ultimate Edition works for Injustice.  Silly things like that.  All in all, I did a pretty good job of keeping track of everything.  Yeahie me and all that stuff.  Anyway, here is the link, more to come on the games that I personally wished would have made it in probably a week or so.  Enjoy.

BC Deals with Gold for the Week of June 25th, 2019

Welp, dragging along in the Game of Thrones, I should have episode five done by Friday.  I ended up playing a lot of Borderlands 2 and made it to the end of the Torgue DLC only to be beat up by the Badassasauras.  Yes the Metal T-Rex made short work of me all three times.  It’s on such a different difficulty level than anything else leading up to it.  I feel like I need to be about level 44, not 34 to achieve anything close to beating the sucker.  Also the arena setting hurts me too as I love using obstacles to get me an advantage and the arena is all open as can be.

Anyway, also played through Old Man’s Journey which was a very light puzzle/point and click game that made me feel sad and can only hope that my son stays close to me for a very long time.  We do have  some sales today that are worth looking at.  If you like 1st person shooters, hopefully you have the Crysis series by now.  Also, I’m not sure why Burnout Revenge can’t get a cheaper discount, but I digress.  We should have Games with Gold announcement later this week and I will be writing a review towards the end of the week on another anime title (Okko’s Inn), so look for that.  Enjoy.

BC Deals with Gold for the Week of June 18th, 2019

Welp, I’m not through the 5th episode of Game of Thrones, I’ve only managed half of it to be honest.  Most of the time I have spent playing Borderlands 2.  As many of you know, Borderlands 2 got new DLC as a bridge for the third game.  Well, the funny thing is they now give you a chance to play a level 30 character that can also be brought back into the regular game with pretty decent weaponry.  So since I never really played any of the end game or the DLC, I figured why not.  I did try the last mission and didn’t get very far, but then I took on the Torgue DLC which is a freaking blast.  I’m through the first eight or nine chapters and will probably be okay until the last boss (which I read is pretty awful).

Anyway, we do have a few sales.  It’s a mixture of Sonic and  some other random stuff.  The Costume Quest sale is a joke since I got the game at $2 and some change  a while back.  And while I did have a lot of fun playing it, it’s not worth the current sale price.  Furthermore, they still refuse to lower the price of the DLC even by a $1.  Also, I tried playing Cars: Mater-National and found it to be abysmal.  Even my kid wasn’t interested after twenty minutes of watching me.  So, perhaps the solution is pick up a random Sonic game this week and give it a go.  Enjoy.

The Street Fighter Collection (Blu-ray) Review

It appears I have been a bit lazy to link my recent reviews over at Upcomingdiscs.com.  The first is The Street Fighter Collection with Sonny Chiba.

23 Games Added to Backwards Compatibility (and this might be it) (I’m not doing 23 exclamation marks)

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay, I lied, there is your 23 exclamation marks.  First the good news, 23 more games have hit backwards compatibility.  There are some excellent titles in this batch and I’m quite happy about that.  There is a but here though.  This might be the last drop ever.  In fact, most websites are reporting that it is indeed the last drop ever.  The reason?  Well ole Scarlett (or the next Xbox) needs all of the manpower it can get which will include backwards compatibility on some level.  As to the extent of that BC, that remains to be seen.  (I rather not speculate as it is all rumor at this point)

Anyway, perhaps we will see one or two titles drop in the next year or so but by and large we are done with backwards compatibility.  It’s very sad for the site and I’m not exactly sure the direction this site will go in the future.  Oh, I will continue to have the site, but the identity might be a bit up in the air until I figure it out.  I have been meaning to redesign the site for sometime and well after I clean up a bit here, that might be exactly what I do.

Clean up means I will need to consult an official list of BC releases (I’ve been keeping my unofficial one since this thing started) and make sure it is 100% accurate.  It means I will get rid of the maybe titles as there is almost no need to continue to track those anymore.  Just the titles, the companies who made them and the date they were released.  That will come by the end of the month for sure, probably sooner.  I will also create an article of the titles from my wishlist that get missed as those 30 titles should be at least mentioned one more time before we close the book.

Anyway, here are the twenty three titles.  I will let them speak for themselves.   One note before I get to it, Too Human is FREE, so grab that (and Free DLC for other titles too).  It is a failed title, it was the source of lawsuits but it wasn’t half bad.  Enjoy kiddoes.

BC Deals with Gold for the Week of June 11th, 2019

I am through episode 4 of Game of Thrones, 2 more to go.  A lot of tense moments in that last episode, but I am making my way through.  I also took the time to take in some BC goodness with Midway Arcade Origins.  Grabbed 4 achievements along the way as well (now at 20 of 31).  Old fingers and crappy controls are probably keeping me from getting anymore to be honest.  Finally, I started the new DLC (the gap between 2 and 3) for Borderlands 2 last night.  Lots to do, I’ll just try to focus and keep playing through chapters of GOT.

We do have a sale today, though it’s hardly the news of the day. I’ll get to the NEWS of the day in the next article. If you were waiting for a sale on Toy Story 3, then this will make you happy for sure. Toy Story games have always been a cut above the rest.  Enjoy.
