BC Deals with Gold for the Week of October 8th, 2019

Finished up Guardians of the Galaxy, writing wise it was sadly one of the weakest I’ve played when it comes to Telltale Games.  It could not create that delicate balance of when to be funny and when to be serious and didn’t do very good at either.  I have now moved on to Wolf Among Us since it seems I’m making the Telltale tour so to speak.  Comparatively, it’s got some great writing and I’m not even done with the first episode yet.

Played some Monster Hunter, but I would be lying if I didn’t say I’m basically stat padding/grinding at this point.  Maybe it’s because I know I probably (at least with the gear I have) know that I am not going to get much farther in the story.  Maybe I’ll go ahead and try the next quest and see how bad it goes.  Can’t be afraid of the unknown forever.

We do have some sales this week.  Nothing official from Major Nelson, so I’m having to grab it from other sources and put it together.  A bunch of Lost Planet and Splinter Cell among other ones we’ve seen in the past.  I still play Capcom’s Arcade Cabinet every once in a while, get frustrated that I can’t get past a certain point and then go back to what I was doing.  Remember this is only the base game though, the true fun is the All in One pack which goes on sale every so often.  Enjoy kids.

Asura’s Wrath 75% $4.99
Brütal Legend 67% $4.94

BC Deals with Gold for the Week of October 1st, 2019

Well, I finished the fourth episode in Guardians of the Galaxy, and we are not going to talk about the miserable state of the Guardians as my decisions have led it to be.  Yeah, I’m surprised the game didn’t take a flying leap off a very tall planet.  Also, Episode 4 might have the worst decision to consider ever in a TellTale game, the Tape Deck.  How do you choose between tunes and life man?

Anyway, I’m still also playing Monster Hunter World.  Grinding my butt off is basically what I’m doing.  But my gear is slowly getting better and hopefully I will be prepared for what is to come.  I probably need to throw a new game into a mix, at least for a week though to help with the monotony.  Moving on, we do have some sales this week.  It is a Devil May Cry themed week which would be great except DMC is not backwards compatible, at all.  However, this might be a good week to pick up Blue Dragon or Lost Odyssey if you don’t own them already.  Enjoy your week and I’ll try to do the same, take care.

Games with Gold for Month of October 2019

Looks like the new Games with Gold were announced this afternoon. I try not to bag on Games with Gold but this is really a poor list (last month was much better).  I’ll grab Tembo, but the rest I’m just not interested in.  I never was one for the Friday the 13th game, it just isn’t my thing even if its super appropriate for the month.  Disney’s Bolt isn’t going to do anything for me and Ninja Gaiden 3 while a good game is one of those games where I just don’t have the time to get used to the difficulty which is always ultra hard in NG games.  Still, I’m sure there are plenty of people who are interested, I’m just not one of them.  Enjoy.

Xbox One

  • Tembo: The BadAss Elephant (October 1st-31st)
  • Friday the 13th: The Game (October 16th – November 15th)

Xbox 360

  • Disney: Bolt (October 1st-15th)
  • Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge (October 16th-31st)

BC Deals with Gold for the Week of September 24th, 2019

Welp Guardians of the Galaxy went quickly for me this past week.  I got through the second and third episodes relatively easy.  The only issue was in Episode 3, Chapter 5 where the game decided to be ugly and not give me an achievement (but it did for the final chapter of Episode 3).  Lots of people apparently get glitches with this section but not so much on the achievement end.  I guess I will be replaying it this weekend.

On the Monster Hunter front, I am now playing “High Ranking” quests.  I guess I’m in the latter stages of the game, so maybe I will beat the story mode after all at some point.  I think I’m HR 12 if that means anything.  I still feel like I’m piddling along but I guess if I keep making progress, then that’s all you can really ask for.  I have certainly sank enough time into it though, with over 70 hours currently.  It will probably end up being 100 if I am able to beat the main story.

Anyway, enough of that.  We have some sales.  Mostly Call of Duty if you are scoring at home (and not very good prices at that).  The Hitmans have a nice discount as do the Lost Planet Games.  Still a darn shame that Remember Me never got to backwards compatibility but at $5 if you have a working 360, it’s probably worth it.  Well enjoy the rest of your week and the prices are after the bump.

BC Deals with Gold for the Week of September 17th, 2019

Welp, I did finish the first episode in Guardians of the Galaxy and started the second last night.  It’s OK, I mean sure its funny at points but I’m far from riveted to my chair.  Walking Dead Season 1 was so well done from a story standpoint (even if I wasn’t too keen on the source material) and GOTG just feels blah (at least so far).

Meanwhile, I did play a lot of Monster Hunter this weekend, I guided Zorah wherever he was supposed to go and I’m progressing (slowly) along.  I’m decently far story wise along but to be frankly honest these last few quests I’m leaning on random adds and a little bit of lady luck to get me through.  I still feel like I missing things even at this point with almost 60 hours put in.  I’ll keep going until I really hit a brick wall (which I might not be far off from) and I’m having fun but this game should have had a paper guide as I’ve said in the past.  The videos and tutorials help but it’s not quite clicking and I watch these other people play and they all are doing far better than I am.  All I can do really well is mount creatures with my glaive or swing a hammer.

Anyway, we do have plenty of sales here.  We even have some DLC, the problem is that this is the same DLC we see time and time again.  However, if you really look through the list you might find a nugget you have missed from sales past such as Chronicles of Mystara or maybe some of the Mass Effect DLC which is 70% off (I’ll have to look at that myself actually).  Enjoy your week or feel free to drop me a line and tell me how much better at Monster Hunter World you are than me.  I’ll probably agree.  Take care. (Hit –More– for the complete list)

BC Deals with Gold for the Week of September 10th, 2019

Welp, I did start Guardians of the Galaxy last week, but honestly I didn’t even finish the first episode.  The game feels so slow, it’s ridiculous.  It literally takes about 3-5 minutes to start and I’ve already had it crash as well.  Game of Thrones didn’t have these issues and the games were made fairly close to each other.  I’ll make it through at least the first episode and try to keep going but damn…optimization people.  I am playing this on my original Xbox One, maybe I should go ahead and install it on my X and see if there is a difference.

Anyway, also played some Monster Hunter World and ran through a NeoGeo game called Robo Army.  One hundred percented that sucker in about 2, 2 1/2 hours.  We do have some sales this week, no official link yet.  Better sale than last week, but unfortunately it still feels all recycled.  I know they all do at this point, but why they don’t put up some different DLC or some of the games we NEVER see on sale is just a bit frustrating.  Take care and enjoy.

BC Deals with Gold for the Week of September 3rd, 2019

Well, I did finish Walking Dead, the bonus version with 400 days.  400 Days sadly did not really feel connected even within itself.  It was a bunch of uneventful short stories that had a common world and not much else.  As mentioned previously, Season 2 won’t be for a little while.

Anyway, I am still playing Monster Hunter and stuck on the first quest in Rotten Vale.  My armor is fine, I’m not dying (except when I get careless) but I’m not really winning either.  I need a better weapon, but I will probably end up crafting a weapon from scratch as upgrades aren’t currently available for my glaive.

I also started Telltale’s Guardians of the Galaxy which was an impulse play after I finally finished watching Endgame last night.  Nothing to really say so far, but I’m sure I will have plenty to mention by this time next week.

So we got sales.  No official link yet but sites such as TrueAchievements.com have used their spidey sense to give us the information.  Unfortunately, they are all previous sales contenders and no new drops to show off for it.  So I guess that’s it.  Enjoy your week.

Game Discount Sale Price
BioShock 60% $7.99
BioShock 2 60% $7.99
BioShock Infinite 70% $8.99
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas 33% $10.04
Sonic Adventure 50% $2.49
Sonic Adventure 2 50% $4.99
Sonic CD 50% $2.49
Sonic the Fighters 50% $2.49

Games with Gold for Month of September 2019

Looks like the new Games with Gold were announced this afternoon. It’s certainly not a bad list, I do own Tekken Tag Tournament 2 as it was the first BC game that was on sale the same week it went backwards compatible.  So I bought it more out of support for the cause than anything else.  But I have not played it, I’m sad to say.  Though the plus side of that would be to actually start the game in that time frame and try to knock out a bunch of the online specific I achievements.  I remember playing Tekken on PS2 to death but I would be lying if it wasn’t just spamming buttons.

On the Xbox One side, I’m sure I will grab Hitman but I’m not a very stealthy player in games that aren’t named Skyrim.  We Were Here from what I could find online seems to be some multiplayer escape room where the two people have walkie talkies?  Since the only game I seem to enjoy online is Monster Hunter (and that’s probably only because I don’t have to talk to anybody), I don’t see how I would enjoy that one, but I’ve been wrong before.  So be sure to grab a couple of these and have fun with it.  Enjoy.

Xbox One

  • Hitman – The Complete First Season (September 1st-30th)
  • We Were Here (September 16th – October 15th)

Xbox 360

  • Earth Defense Force 2025  (September 1st-15th)
  • Tekken Tag Tournament 2 (September 16th-30th)

BC Deals with Gold for the Week of August 27th, 2019

Welp, still playing Monster Hunter, cleaned up a few achievements and progressing very slowly through the story.  If I desire, I will probably be playing the game up until the end of the year.  Much like Skyrim, I doubt I will ever finish it, but at some point I will put it away.  Walking Dead, I am done with the main story line.  Gripping end as expected, if my wife wasn’t in the room, there might have been a tear shed or two.  So I guess it is on to 400 days after this which I should be done with by next week at this time.  After Walking Dead S1 is complete, tempted to play Telltale’s Guardians of the Galaxy or Wolf Among Us, we shall see.  (No WD Season 2 yet)

We do have a lot of sales this week.  A lot of UBI Soft games, I’m not seeing anything that’s not been on sale frequently.  Interestingly enough, Watch Dogs is listed as “Backwards Compatible” but as of the writing of this column that is not the case.  I’m sure it’s a typo, but its still wonderful to speculate even when we are supposed to be done.  Oh my usual griping session about the Risens and that they were never made BC.  Anyway, enjoy your week, find a game you like and just take your time.  Take care.

Note (7:15am) – as I started to transcribe the prices, I realize these are not active yet. I will check back later in the day and update it accordingly.

Update (11:00am Thursday) – At least the Xbox team got these in before the weekend.  They honestly don’t seem to care about 360 sales anymore.

Major League (Blu-ray) Review

I posted this about a week ago, problem is my website treated it as a no-huddle review (with no picture) despite me writing 2000 words about it.  But it’s basically Major League with an old disc in a new wrapping (to celebrate 30 years).  Hope you enjoy my take on it.
