Spirited Away Collector’s Edition (Blu-Ray) Review

Another Collector’s edition for me to breakdown.  This time, Spirited Away, the fantastic anime movie that I had never seen until this past week.  Enjoy.

BC Deals with Gold for the Week of November 5th, 2019

Well, I did finish Wolf Among Us, satisfying until the end and that ending after the ending, whew.  Fantastic stuff.  Wish we would have gotten a Season 2 like probably everybody else who has played it.  I did also start The Walking Dead Season 2, finished the first episode even.  I’m trying to finish it up before Thanksgiving but that will require some effort to make that happen.  After that, Telltale wise I’m planning on Sam & Max (yes the 360 games) and maybe Jurassic Park or Back to the Future before going back to TWD.  Yes, minus a couple of games (Minecraft Season 2 can go take a leak on itself), I’m trying to complete almost all of the catalog.

Anyway, I would love to say we have some Xbox 360 BC Sales this week, but we have nothing as those two games are certainly not BC.  In the spirit of my current gaming venture, I will point you over to the Xbox One sales where the Batman Telltale Games are up for a good price.  A bundle of both will set you back $12.49 which is MORE than worth it.  Seriously, I bought both of those on disc for $15-20 a piece and feel I got my money’s worth.  Great games that really play with the Batman mythos.  It’s a shame we’ll never see a final game to wrap up everything.  Welp, that’s it for this week.  I should have a review for the collector’s edition of Spirited Away (blu-ray) before the end of the week so be sure to stay tuned for that.  Enjoy.

Games with Gold for Month of November 2019

Looks like the new Games with Gold were announced this morning. Well, the Xbox One list is pretty decent in my opinion.  I also dig a good mystery game and you can’t go wrong with some Sherlock Holmes action.  Final Station might be decent as well, but be warned there is some DLC for $5 that does add if nothing else quite a bit of achievement points to the game.

The 360 GWG is pathetic, sorry.  I think we have all of the Xbox Original Star Wars games now and Joyride Turbo was given away as part of a Mountain Dew promotion or something where a bunch of people abused the system so pretty much everybody got it free already?  That’s what I remember anyway.  So yeah, I’ll get both of the Xbox One games but the 360 keeps getting slower and slower.

Do not be surprised if they abandon the 360 games with gold come the new year.  There is just a feeling in the back of my head that keeps pointing towards it.  Now whether they go to 3 or 4 games a month on Xbox One, I’m not sure, but we might be nearing the end of an era.  Try to enjoy folks.

Xbox One

  • Sherlock Holmes: The Devil’s Daughter  (November 1st-30th)
  • The Final Station (November 16th – December 15th)

Xbox 360

  • Star Wars: Jedi Starfighter (XBO) (November 1st-15th)
  • Joyride Turbo (November 16th-30th)

BC Deals with Gold for the Week of October 29th, 2019

Welp, I’m through four episodes with the Wolf Among Us and should have the fifth by the end of the week.  As I’ve said just about every week, really well put together adventure game and I wish I would have played it earlier.  I am still fumbling around in Monster Hunter World but as I’ve mentioned last week, I think it might be time for a new adventure after 100 hours.  It’s gotten really repetitive.  As to what I will play next, I really can’t say.  I know I’ll start another Telltale game after Wolf Among Us (probably WD Season 2) but I always need an alternate for when I get bored.  We’ll see I guess.

I wish I had some new and interesting sales to report about.  But as far as the Xbox 360 is concerned, it looks like all hold over from the Shocktober sale that I talked about last week.  Please see here for those sales.  There is plenty to like from the prior sales and I’m not sure I have made all of my purchases yet as I’m still considering a couple of titles.  So take a look and enjoy the rest of your week.  Enjoy.

Bakugan: Battle Planet – Origin of Species (S1V1) Review

Took on a DVD review of Bakugan: Battle Planet over the weekend.  Not much to see here, but I tried to put in a modest effort.

Shocktober Sale 2019!

Well, it appears that the sales sheet got updated and there are a few new sales though it might be best if you just look through the list all over again.  I was able to spot a few new sales for the Xbox 360 Backwards Compatibility but if I missed one or two feel free to comment below.  Enjoy.

BC Deals with Gold for the Week of October 22nd, 2019

Welp, I did a little bit in gaming this week.  Finished the third episode of Wolf Among Us, played through Baseball Stars 2 (that Hi-Score mode was challenging), and even progressed a little with Monster Hunter World.  Monster Hunter World is certainly frustrating me to this point (I think that’s why I focused most of the weekend and yesterday on Baseball Stars 2) because the only way I’m getting through any new story mission at this point is to get a couple of randoms that are really good and finish it that way.  Good luck at soloing anything that’s at my HR level.  I’m a solo player at heart, so I just hate relying on others.

Moving on to some sales.  Call of Juarez, Fallout 3 and New Vegas, Saints Row and plenty of Tom Clancy action are what we are getting this week.  Even though I own several Saints Row games, I honestly have never played them.  I get them on the cheap, say I’m going to play them and then just don’t.  So, I would appreciate possibly a few comments this week and if you have an opinion on which Saints Row to play first, then shoot it over.  I probably need to move off of Monster Hunter, I want to make a run at finishing the story mode but I’m not sure if I really want to put in the frustration.  One last thing, I should have two reviews this week, one’s an anime short collection and the other is a collection of Bakugan episodes.  Not exciting, but hey it’s something to keep me busy.  Enjoy your week kids.

BC Deals with Gold for the Week of October 15th, 2019

Finished the second episode of Wolf Among Us.  Still the best Telltale game I’ve played not named Tales from the Borderlands.  Still upset at myself for waiting to play it so long but then I could say that about a lot of the Telltale games (with the exception of Game of Thrones and Guardians of the Galaxy which were easily the worst of the series).  I did also play some Monster Hunter World and finally got the capture achievement but I’m just kinda messing around at this point.

We do have a bunch of sales this week (at least on the Xbox One side).  But on the Xbox 360 side we do have a few things such as a ton of Assassin’s Creed and Far Cry.  Lego Batman 2 is sandwiched in there as well which I finished earlier this year.  I’m not sure if it is worth $10 in this current market but you could do far worse.  Remember Ninja Gaiden 3 should be free now as well for those with Gold.  Enjoy your week.

Book Review of Street Freaks by Terry Brooks

Edit: About ten minutes after I wrote this post, I found the part in the widget script that I had to change.  Wasn’t hard at all.  I still might keep a list running in the blog too though, after all I want to progress the site towards my reviews and writing as we move forward and unfortunately away from Xbox backwards compatibility.

I am sure most of my loyal readers by now have seen my book reviews to the right.  It’s interesting the way it works for Goodreads is that it will show the latest 12 books I’ve reviewed but it bases the date off when I add the book.  So, for example I just finished Street Freaks but I added it to my Want to Read list on Goodreads over a year ago, so it won’t show up in the list.  If I can figure out how to correct it, I certainly will.  But maybe it would be just easier if I put the list up here in the blog and drop the side widget.  A little more work for me, but you get it.

Anyway, here is the review, enjoy.
