BC Deals with Gold for the Week of February 4th, 2020

Yep, still playing Monster Hunter World. I did make progress though. I’m up to HR 83, and I’m down to 4 monsters whose tracks need to be maxed out. Those four are (with probably little surprise) Great Girros, Kirin, Black Diablos, and Kushala Daora. To be fair, Girros, Black Diablos and Kushala are all on their last star of research. Kirin, nobody wants to fight (understandable) and will probably still be here next week. Kushala Daora was probably my biggest increase in the last week as I was barely at 1 star and I’m up to 3 1/4 stars at the moment. I still can’t stand to fight them, but at least I don’t feel like a complete inept piece of crappy hunter similar to when I first faced them.
On to the sales which we do have a fair amount. There is also some DLC here which is nice to see. A lot of Saints Row if you haven’t gotten your fill of that as of yet. Oddly enough, a lone piece of Saints Row DLC is on sale but the first game is not. But to be fair, I think everybody has the first game in some form or fashion at this point. Especially all the times it was $2. Anyway, have a great week and I should have at least one Anime Blu-Ray review before the end of the week. Enjoy.

Games with Gold for Month of February 2020
Author: Michael Durr Published Date: January 28, 2020 Leave a Comment on Games with Gold for Month of February 2020
Looks like the new Games with Gold were announced this morning. I’m really excited for Call of Cthulu (it’s been on my Amazon wishlist for months) but the rest can go rot where Lovecraft’s creatures go to feed. Seriously, Fable Heroes and Star Wars: Battlefront for the 360 side? What is the obsession with all of the Star Wars Original Xbox games on Games with Gold? I’m not going to bash TT Isle of Man since that plays into Microsoft’s other obsession with racing games but I guess I will patiently be waiting for COC on the 16th. Enjoy.
Xbox One
- TT Isle of Man (February 1st – February 29th)
- Call of Cthulu (February 16th – March 15th)
Xbox 360
- Fable Heroes (February 1st – February 15th)
- Star Wars Battlefront (XBO) (February 16th-29th)

This is the part where you get after me for not starting another game besides Monster Hunter World. Go ahead, let me have it. *waits for the beating* In my defense, I did finally achieve 50 Elder Dragons and 50 Tempered beasts. Actually one after the other. I was particularly happy with my 50 tempered beasts as I soloed a couple of monsters including an Azure Rathalos. I am currently working on getting all of my monster track levels up to max. I’m at HR 78, so I don’t think I will see HR 100 anytime. We’ll see what game I attempt next, but I think I need to stop promising a new game and let it come naturally.
We do have a few sales this week but not many of them are actually backwards compatible. But it does do the heart good to see a few Xbox Originals in the list. Darksiders and Red Faction as well which were always well done Action Adventure type games. Take a gander at the list and let me know if you like anything. In the mean time, I’ll try to kick this Monster Hunter World habit, one Nerigigante at a time. Enjoy.

Yep, still playing Monster Hunter World and nothing else. A very blah week for me, I’m up to HR 72 now and still nothing else gained on the achievement end. Just progress. I’ll spare you anything further for this week but I’ll leave with this. I will play something else, I guarantee it because if I don’t I might just lose it. Cue the Eminem meme.
Anyway, on to sales. The Xbox One looks like it is getting plenty but the Xbox 360 side looks like the same recycled 10 to 15 we get at least once a month now. You would think they would at least discount 1 or 2 of those to bargain bin type prices ($3 or less). They surely can’t be making much off of them anymore. Maybe I’m wrong. Welp, enjoy your week and I’ll try to do the same. Take care.

Well, I would like to say that I played something besides Monster Hunter World. That was not the case. However, I did eclipse 500 monsters and I am sitting at HR 70. Still trying to get 50 elders and 50 tempereds. I’m around 40 each I figure on both. I have also started trying to get all of the monster tracks up to their highest level as that’s an achievement as well. I do not look forward to getting those last few like the Kirin or Kushala Daora which are my two least favorite monsters by far. Yeah, I need to start something new (or go back to something old).
We do have some DLC sales this week. It is certainly not as much as I would like to see but it is something, at least for the Assassin’s Creed and Far Cry folks. The Worms games are decent fun but not backwards compatible (even though they should be). Have a good week, I might have a review towards the end of the week or early next. Just something to look forward to. Enjoy.

BC Deals with Gold for the Week of January 7th, 2020

It is so weird to write that. 2020. Especially for someone who has watched the amount of sci-fi movies I have and lived long enough to see reality for as long as I have. Both Space Odysseys are in the past, both Escape from NY & LA are in the past, heck Akira & Rollerball are now in the past. In two years, Johnny Mnemonic will be in the past. Hard to believe.
I have been primarily playing Monster Hunter World, grinding up everything I can including elder dragons, tempered beasts, and if I’m so lucky, a crown or two. My diversion right now is not another game, but I’ve been trying to catch up on some movies and television that I have been neglecting. Actually, me and my wife are going to take on a HBO series (not Watchmen) in preparation for a review that I should have done closer to the end of the month. So this week (& next) probably will not see much game playing.
We have a very limited amount of sales this week with only a few titles for the Xbox 360 that are listed below. I already have all 3 Crysis games and never liked the idea of the Mirrors’ games. Though I am eyeing the Vanishing of Ethan Carter on the Xbox One side at a very nice 60% discount. Most people are under the impression with that game that it will be on GWG or Game Pass at some point and I can’t say I disagree with them. It’s hard to wait though. Take care and enjoy your week.

BC Deals with Gold for the Week of December 31st, 2019

First, I would like to apologize for missing last week’s BC Deals, there were a few but I will say they have all been on sale before and it’s not like I get any help or somebody who could do it for me or anything. Christmas week was mainly spent at the in-laws and their internet was down and even when it was up, I couldn’t exactly rush to the computer. Sorry about that, honestly and truthfully.
Anyway, I spent my week playing two games, Legend of the Skyfish and Monster Hunter World (of course). Legend of the Skyfish was played honestly for some easy gamerscore (though in reality if you don’t play platform games too much it can be difficult in spots) as I was able to wrap it in about 4 hours. Monster Hunter World, I’m now about 130 hours in and was able to get the 5 rare weapons achievement last night. At this point, I have 3-4 achievements left in the base game that I can reasonably grind for. This includes the 500 monsters, 50 elder dragons and 50 tempereds. After I get those, I should be close to HR 100 which is the 4th achievement. I really don’t feel like grinding for arena quests or the friggering crowns (I think I have a whole 3 of small and large crowns, it’s ridiculous). Then after those 3-4 achievements, I’ll put it down until I am able to get Iceborne for $20.
The sales are interesting this week. We have actually a few games that are not BC but might be worth a look like Binary Domain and Hell Yeah, Wrath of the Dead Rabbit. We also have a smattering of BC games that you might have missed the first time around. None of them are easy gamerscore though as all three are quite tasking. Still you might find them interesting. Have a great new year, and enjoy.

Games with Gold for Month of January 2020
Author: Michael Durr Published Date: December 20, 2019 Leave a Comment on Games with Gold for Month of January 2020
Looks like the new Games with Gold were announced this week. Sorry for not catching it sooner, but this time of the year is very busy. I will warn you that as of right now that Batman: The Telltale Series is completely broken in regards to achievements. Why you ask? Because the company that took over the game released a new texture pack of sorts called Shadows mode. Which is pretty cool in the sense that it gives the game a very “Sin City” like look. What is not cool is that it didn’t really add any new achievements or things to do. What is worse, it broke the damn game. Avoid until you see it fixed. Tekken 6 is a decent fighting game but it does have some online achievements so you are aware. Lego Star Wars II the Original Trilogy is only good for those who want a difficult and frustrating Lego game before they became much more polished. It’s not a great month but if they fix the Batman bugs in time, it can at least be a very good month. Enjoy.
Xbox One
- Styx: Shards of Darkness (January 1st – January 31st)
- Batman: Telltale Series (January 16th – February 15th)
Xbox 360
- Tekken 6 (January 1st-15th)
- Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy (January 16th-31st)

BC Deals with Gold for the Week of December 17th, 2019
Author: Michael Durr Published Date: December 17, 2019 Leave a Comment on BC Deals with Gold for the Week of December 17th, 2019
A slow week in gaming for me as I only really played Monster Hunter World and Sam n Max. In Sam n Max, I’m now through the third episode. I’m going to attempt to get through all 6 before the end of the year. It’s doable, but with Christmas and all sorts of wonderful things known as time with the loved ones, I can’t guarantee anything at this point. I’m also a little over 700 points away from 100,000 gamerscore. Basically, I could fall through a NeoGeo game and pick up those points. Just not sure which game I want to do it with.
Monster Hunter World, I’m in a weird place. I’m at HR 49 and tried the tempered Kirin fight only to find myself woefully underpowered. In fact, it was a joke. So now I’m gearing up or attempting to and it’s very slow going. Melee weapons seem to be a waste of time against it so neither of my max hammers would do any good and the same could be said for my insect glaive. So I maxed out a bow and hopefully that with the right coating will be what I need. I’m also working on maxing out a light bowgun since I’ve read those work real well too. *grumble grumble, I STILL WANT A PAPER GUIDE*
Okay, so we have sales this week, not that much but I can safely say if you don’t have any of these four games that the meager price point is worth going after. Guardian Heroes and Phantasy Star II are fantastic as are Gunstar Heroes and Jet Set Radio. Outside of that, maybe you can find something in the Xbox One list that will satisfy you. Always feel free to post a comment and let me know what you pick up. Enjoy your week.
