10/30 Update on Backwards Compatibility Voting

Welcome to the 15th iteration of Backwards Compatibility Voting.  Of course, the big announcement this week was that there is finally a go live date for backwards compatibility on Xbox One.  November 12th.  Yes, in less than two weeks many of the 360 games we have talked about for months will be given the green light for play on the XB1.  As we have seen last week, and continuing a little bit this week, votes are picking up.  The odd thing as you will soon see is that they are not always in the expected places.

Xbox One Backwards Compatibility Coming to All Consoles on November 12th!

Per a Major Nelson tweet, we are slated to get Xbox One backwards compatibility for ALL users on November 12th, about two and a half weeks from now.  Exciting stuff on top of Criterion Games confirming that Burnout Paradise is a Xbox One backwards compatible title.  There were also some rumors that November’s Games with Gold for the Xbox 360 would be Dirt 3 and Dungeon Siege 3 which per an earlier announcement a couple of months ago would mean those titles too are also Backwards Compatible.  By Friday, I will probably take a long last look at the spreadsheet where I predict what goes to BC and what doesn’t and make my final revisions.  From there it will just be the task of recording which games make it and which don’t.  Stay tuned, it’s about to get very exciting.

10/29/15 Edit – Dirt 3 and Dungeon Siege 3 are now confirmed to be backwards compatible as part of the ongoing Games with Gold November announcement.  I’ll be grabbing DS3 for sure, but Rally racing (Dirt 3) really isn’t my thing.  Good news though, for certain.

10/23 Update on Backwards Compatibility Voting

Welcome to the 14th iteration of Backwards Compatibility Voting.  In the last week, I played more of Project Spark, more of NCAA Football 14, and battled with my apartment complex as well as the bank providing the loan on my new house.  I won some, I lost some, and some are still to be decided.  But on the battleground known as Backwards Compatibility, we are nearing closer and closer to the magical month of November.  Voting is picking up, and while there are the usual favorites, there are some titles in the mix I have not seen in a while.  Let’s go inside and see.

10/16 Update on Backwards Compatibility Voting

Welcome to the 13th iteration of Backwards Compatibility Voting.  It’s monthly voting time and I did get my copies of Wasteland 2: Director’s Cut and Back to the Future for the Xbox One from Gamestop.  Unfortunately, I didn’t even unwrap them yet.  I spent my time either messing with Project Spark or playing NCAA Football 14.  Pick up and play, I swear that’s my magical phrase when you have a baby to look after.  But we have much to talk about, and you didn’t click on this column to get daddy feelings of joy notes.

10/09 Update on Backwards Compatibility Voting

Welcome to the 12th iteration of Backwards Compatibility Voting.  This week I spent a lot of time exploring the world of Project Spark.  This video game creation tool went completely free this week, including all of the downloadable content.  Even the achievement structure was completely changed which allowed for an easier playing time (and a rapidly declining true achievements ratio if you care about that sort of thing).  Anyway, it is was another dismal week of voting, but in an attempt to spice it up a bit, I changed some things around.  Let’s go and see.

10/02 Update on Backwards Compatibility Voting

Welcome to the 11th iteration of Backwards Compatibility Voting. This was kinda of a dismal week as far as voting went with record low percentages and even one title that received 0 votes in the span of a week. (Wow, zero really? Why am I doing this again?) But on the upside, I did play something besides Pinball on my new Xbox One this week. Yeahie! And it sucked. Booooo! Anyway, we’ll talk about that inside too along with a few fun comments thrown in there. Also find out what title I purchased this week that was on sale also inside this article (Experts say that if I give teasers in the header, people will actually want to read the article…I’d say I’m halfway convinced nobody reads this thing. The other half is eating a pastrami sammich). You know the drill, more inside.

9/25 Update on Backwards Compatibility Voting

Welcome to the 10th iteration of Backwards Compatibility Voting. Since I got my Xbox One, basically all I have done is play with some apps, download plenty of stuff, and play Pinball FX2.  Not exactly a productive way to showoff the system, but it has been fun nevertheless.  I did however get an invite for a Closed Beta to Fable Legends and the stress test is from 2pm to 6pm on Saturday.  Odd timing if you ask me, but if I’m around I will give it a shot.  Anyway, on to some voting analysis.

9/18 Update on Backwards Compatibility Voting

Welcome to the 9th iteration of Backwards Compatibility Voting. Before we get on to voting, I will give you a couple of important events that did happen in the last week that were important to Backwards Compatibility. The first being that the Xbox 360 did get a system update and in that update, the cloud storage was increased to 2GB. This is important because one of the most important features of backwards compatibility is to import our old game saves. And the only way to do that is through the cloud. So, they had to up it…they really had no choice but to increase it from 512mb to 2gigs. Personally I would have liked to see 5 gigs, but its a huge step in the right direction. The second part is personal and dear to me, I finally got a Xbox One. More inside.

9/11 Update on Backwards Compatibility Voting

Welcome to the 8th iteration of Backwards Compatibility Voting.  It’s monthly voting time and we here are SUPER excited about it.  Okay not really.  But despite the low voting, there were certainly some interesting trends we saw this week.  Let’s go inside and take a look.

9/4 Update on Backwards Compatibility Voting

Welcome to the 7th iteration of Backwards Compatibility Voting. Much like last week, voting was slow despite some interesting news involving the likes of Deadpool and Borderlands.  It just goes to show you that if we really expect a decent # of votes, we are going to have to get some decent news.  But we got some numbers and some analysis, lets get to the show.
