Halo Wars, Soul Calibur II & King of Fighters 98 added to Backwards Compatible!!
Keep em coming babie! We got another set of three for today’s news fresh off the Easter Weekend. Halo Wars is no big surprise since its Microsoft and has been rumored for months now. I’ve never played it personally, but then again I’ve only played regular Halo in bits and pieces. The other two are a little unexpected (I think most people rather see Soul Calibur IV or V personally), but more games is always a good thing. It should be noted that Soul Calibur II is still on sale for $4.99 until midnight tonight if you want to pick it up on the cheap. Unfortunately, I grabbed Tekken Tag last week, I’ve kinda exceeded my fighting games quota for now :).
Games with Gold for April 2016 Announced!
According to a recent tweet by good ole Larry Hryb, we have 4 new games with Gold coming in April. Wolf Among Us and Sunset Overdrive on the Xbox One front are quite welcome even if I already have Wolf Among Us in disc form ($5 special from the Microsoft Store). On the Xbox 360 side, we have Dead Space and Saint’s Row IV which means a couple of things. 1)These two will become backwards compatible very soon and 2)I need to pull my copy of the National Treasure Edition of SR4 off of Half.com since it has the DLC and is probably now worth keeping. Good stuff, this week just keeps on rolling.
Dark Souls and Tekken Tag Tournament 2 added to Backwards Compatibility for XB1!
Per Tweet just about an hour ago, Dark Souls and Tekken Tag Tournament 2 were added to BC for the Xbox One. This isn’t exactly a surprise since both were either leaked or previously announced as coming but welcome nevertheless. I would also be lying if I didn’t feel a little more tempted to buy Tekken Tag 2 during the ongoing sale for a measly $5. And it’s bought. I needed a good fighter for my Xbox One anyway. That’s what I keep telling myself.
BC Deals with Gold for the week of March 22nd, 2016
Well, last week we were promised a massive Spring Sale that would include among other things, lots of BC. Well there are BC sales, but silly me I thought it might be something different than the usual mess. I was hoping for Call of Juarez: Gunslinger or the Sam n Max titles or even some Sega games. Nope, same stuff, different week. I am slightly tempted to get Tekken Tag Tournament 2 (and there is a fair number of games on sale that are supposed to be coming very soon to BC) since we know its coming to BC and its only $4.99, but that’s about it. On the flip side, I am working through my review for Ziggurat (Xbox One) and should have that posted by the end of the week. Very fun game. Anyway, enjoy the week.
3/23/16 Edit: Tekken Tag Tournament 2 added to the list. See I was already tempted before it was announced on BC 🙂
3/28/16 Edit: Soul Calibur II HD added to the list. Solid game, but we’ll see it on sale again and Tekken Tag 2 is the same price.
Xbox One Backwards Compatible Games on Sale this Week
Assassin’s Creed, Dark Void and GRID 2 are now Backwards Compatible!
Welp, they certainly like to come in bunches. Major Nelson Tweeted three more games added to the BC roster today. Unfortunately I can’t test out Dark Void or Grid 2, but I do still have a copy of Assassin’s Creed I got a LONG TIME ago. Of course, not the games everybody is looking for (so there will be complaints) but this makes for three more BC games and that’s the important thing.
Alan Wake, Castlevania: SOTN and PacMan added to Backwards Compatibility!
I had been lulled to sleep by the lack of announcements lately, but we certainly had a good one today. Per Major Nelson’s Tweet, we now have Alan Wake, Castlevania: Symhony of the Night (which is now official instead of just available via the glitch I reported a while back), and Pac Man (which is on the Namco Museum disc) added to the list. Good stuff, I bought Alan Wake and have the DLC but never got around to it. So I will be looking into that. But since I own all three in some shape or form, I will be testing these out later and let you know if there are any mess-ups. Enjoy!
BC Deals with Gold for the Week of March 15th, 2016
Here are the deals with gold for this week. Unfortunately, it is more of the same (translation: no BC sales) for those who are waiting for a sale on something that is backwards compatible. Heck, there hasn’t been an announcement of anything new coming to BC in over a few weeks now. The only saving grace is that Borderlands (with all DLC if you have a XB1)goes free tomorrow for two weeks if you have Gold. I’ve been playing Stranger of Sword City for Xbox One mostly, and its a tough grind…it really is. But I do see myself getting smarter about battles, I just wish I knew where more Lineages (bosses) were so I could get further. Anyway, hopefully I will back with more news later in the week.
BC Deals with Gold for the week of March 8th, 2016
Well, here are the sales for this week. Unfortunately as been the trend off and on this year, we get no BC deals for me to report on. Very depressing stuff. On the speculation front, LA Noire and Max Payne 3 should be BC eventually if you want to pick one of those up for about the 200th time (and at the same prices). If I had some extra cash, I might consider the Transformers pack, which has two good games for $20 is nothing to sneeze at. On the Xbox One side, if you don’t have Life is Strange in some form, $10 for the whole season is pretty much a layup. There is also some Van Helsing DLC in the mix for those who want some extra Diablo type action. It’s a passable week, hopefully we will get some BC news later in the week…heck I would take Galaga Legions DX and Dig Dug at this point. Later.
Deals with Gold for the week of March 1st, 2016
Well, it’s March 1st and you know what that means, I should be able to play Call of Duty: Black Ops by now..I’ll just march over to the console and…wait, what? They said they would release it for BC and didn’t follow through? That’s not like Microsoft, not like them at all. Or at least people who shouldn’t be speaking for the release schedule were barking on about things they knew nothing about. I’m not surprised, this whole BC thing while great isn’t exactly foolproof. I mean we got Carcassonne and Geometry Wars last week. Tell me what decade you last played those two….if you said this one, you are in the minority. I will say one counterpoint though, and that’s to the people (I saw an actual tweet on this) who say they paid all of this money for a next-gen console and asked why he couldn’t play his favorite 360 game? Ummm, well…even though I’m probably the biggest BC guy on the net, you bought a nex-gen system to play nex-gen games (Ignore those ID@Xbox games though), not to hope that your favorite 360 game would be BC. You don’t see me crying a river over Skyrim and Xcom…well not yet. Anyway, DEALS WITH GOLD, FRONT AND CENTER! I don’t see much here, there is a Supreme Commander 2(which goes free for download with Gold today) map pack though. Also, we can expect Galaga Legions DX, any PacMan title and probably Enslaved to go BC eventually. That’s it for now, enjoy!
Carcassonne and Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved added to Backwards Compatibility!
Darn those weekend announcements. Anyway, Carcassonne (which I 100%ed) and Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved (and you couldn’t pay me to play again) are both added to backwards compatibility on the Xbox one. For those compilation hunters, GM: Retro Evolved was on Xbox Live Arcade Unplugged. I have not tested it yet to make sure, but it should work. Anyway, off we go, a good start to a BC week.
