Bomberman Live: Battlefest is now available on Backwards Compatibility!!
They keep coming with these odd releases. This is not the normal Bomberman Live with which most of us include myself are familiar with. This is actually the sequel and goes for $9.99 and keeps a lot of what we love that is Bomberman (Lots of bombs, mayhem and powerups). It does also have three DLC packs as well (with achievements) for those who care about such things for $2.99 a piece. A sale I could see myself buying it fairly quickly. As it stands right now, this would be a $19 investment….I’ll pass but good for those who already have it. Enjoy.
BC Deals for the week of August 16th, 2016
This would be one of those weeks that you can skip, call it a hunch. In fact, there is only one deal for BC fans (well besides Beyond Good & Evil HD does go free with GWG today) and that’s a game you really should be snagging the GOTY copy instead (and at the same price). Anyway, I’m more interested in the fact that WWE 2k16 also goes free for X1 owners and is currently downloading on my own X1. That sucker is 42 gigs by the way, so it will be a while. On other sales, I might pick up Blue Estate (since it looks to be my kind of crass humor) but achievements look borderline ridiculous. Anyway, have fun and we’ll see what this week brings.
- Red Dead Redemption $19.49 (really bad sale)
Dirt 3, Dirt: Showdown and Grid 2 Now Support Xbox One Wheels!
In what could be described as a surprising but great announcement, we now have support on three Xbox 360 games (Dirt 3, Dirt Showdown and Grid 2) that support the Xbox One wheels when played on Xbox One. I’ve always fancied myself to get one of those, but alas the only racing games that really ever interest me are the Burnout series. But this announcement is perhaps more important as Microsoft might be able to support other Xbox One peripherals down the road for other BC titles. We shall see. Take care and have a great weekend.
Shank 2 added to Backwards Compatibility!!
Shank 2 – Normally $9.99, this looks to be a pretty fun beat-em-up. It looks like a cross between Rush N Attack and Metal Slug. The original game isn’t supposedly half bad either (but not BC). Achievements look semi-difficult honestly. I would be more than willing to give this a try, but will probably wait for a sale. And I’m one of those people who would want to play the first one too. Anyway, that’s our BC for today. Enjoy.
Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon added to Backwards Compatibility!
This one was kinda expected, it was just a matter of timing. Here are my thoughts:
Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon – $14.99 (occasionally has sales), I played the trial quite a bit but never bit on it. It’s hilarious, in fact it is one of the funniest games I have ever played. But it’s 100% Far Cry, meaning once you get past the funny, the game is extremely hard. Pin point accuracy is a must and things get difficult quick. My advice is that if you are still itching to play it, wait for a sale or buy the compilation disc. The compilation disc will probably be made all BC compatible at some point and at $15 used is quite the bargain.
BC Deals for the Week of August 9th, 2016
We have this week a really massive sale this week headed by the people at Capcom. Unfortunately, very few of them are actually backwards compatible. Only 4, and there are a ton of titles on sale. Now we can play speculation game all day and maybe we’ll be surprised this week and get 1 or 2 more. I will warn you folks, Capcom Arcade Cabinet is only the first three games, it is not the All-In Pack (which is still $24.99). The other three are clearly the stars and should be the ones to go after if you don’t own them already. (I unfortunately do) Have a good week kids.
- Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 $2.99
- Capcom Arcade Cabinet $1.24
- Duck Tales: Remastered $3.74
- Final Fight: Double Impact $2.49
BC News over the Weekend: Bullet Soul and Blue Dragon!
Well, it’s a little abnormal to have anything about Backwards Compatibility over the weekend, it’s completely rare to have two pieces of news about it.
The first piece of news comes from 5pb and their Western Release of Bullet Soul on the Xbox 360. Bullet Soul is a shoot-em-up from Japan that’s received lots of praise. In addition, the Western Release is also going to contain all DLC which is an added bonus. My guess would be that it would be digital only though despite the Japanese release was also available in physical disc format. I will say though if it gets a disc release, I’m there due to the Day One BC. (But that’s hard to fathom with any remaining 360 releases)
Our second piece of news comes from Phil Spencer who tends to drop hints on various Microsoft related news. Blue Dragon is coming to backwards compatibility. We aren’t sure exactly when, but eventually we will see it. This is great news as multi-disc games are starting to come along now. The only question I have is when we’ll see some other multi-disc games like Lost Odyssey, Infinite Undiscovery and more. Anyway, enjoy your week.
Mr. Driller Online, New Rally X and NIN2 – Jump added to Backwards Compatibility!!
Welp, we got three titles today as announced by Major Nelson. A couple more Namco games and then an odd one I haven’t heard of before.
Mr. Driller Online – $10 game, tough achievements on this mediocre title. However, this one is on the Namco Virtual Museum Arcade disc (which you should own by now) and that’s going to be your best bang for your buck.
New Rally X – $5 title, and very easy achievements. It’s still not a good game, but it is also available on the Namco disc.
NIN2 – Jump – our final title, also $5. Achievements are also pretty easy. This is a platforming title made by Cave and is supposed to be pretty decent. It supposedly plays out like the player is in a Japanese shadow theater complete with commentary from the audience when the character gets hurt. The story is you are a ninja and you are saving the princess from another evil ninja. I might give it a shot :).
BC Deals with Gold for the Week of August 2nd, 2016
Welp, I have finally managed level 50 in Project Spark, somehow before the D-Day of August 12th. I don’t know if I will try to clean up some of the other achievements, but at least I can say I finished what I set out to do. The sad part I was really starting to learn some of this creation stuff through the daily tasks. Anyway, I’m still sorta working on Dangerous Golf and getting all of the Golds, I’m about 25 off in the single player (out of 100). Anyway, we have a bunch of BC deals this week. To me, it’s a whole bunch of nothing unfortunately. For all of the Fallout 3 and New Vegas stuff, the player is still ten times better off buying the GOTY package and calling it a day. There are some nice deals on the Ghost Recon and Splinter Cell stuff but none of them are actually backwards compatible. Quake Arena is bound to become BC at some point, but its a multiplayer game at its core…you have to have other people to play with. But just maybe this is the week that Oblivion becomes BC as a consolation prize to the remastered Skyrim. Enjoy kids.

Triggerheart Exelica added to Backwards Compatibility!
Sorry I missed this one earlier, as it turns out I had to babysit the young one and couldn’t really get near a computer like I needed to. I apologize. Anyway, Major Nelson tweeted about Triggerheart yesterday.
Triggerheart Exelica – $9.99 vertical shoot em up, Japanese style which means quite the difficult game and a tiny screen surrounded by anime girls. I’ve always liked the horizontal ones more myself, see Gates of Thunder and R-Type but these can be fun too. Enjoy.
