Military Madness: Nectaris & Omega Five added to Backwards Compatibility!!
Welp, we usually get another couple of games on Thursday, and this one was no different. Military Madness is actually an updated version of the Pc Engine/Turbo Graphix game. I would easily buy it on a sale but some strategists might find value in it at $9.99. Omega Five is another game published by Hudson and is in the vain of a classic shoot-em-up. Again, I’d probably bite at a sale price but not $9.99. Still glad to see more games, and especially more Hudson published games. Enjoy.
Backwards Compatible % Revisited 1 Year Later
When I started reporting on Backwards compatible to the Xbox One news, I had a simple premise. Here are 131 games that I voted on through Microsoft’s service; how much of a chance do they really have of being made backwards compatible. Four percentages were assigned, 99% (It’s going to happen), 75% (It most likely will happen), 50% (maybe, could happen), 25% (probably not going to happen), and 1% (not going to happen, but never say never). I was probably more positive than most. Well, a year later, 89 of these are still not part of the Backwards Compatible program. I figured a re-visit was in order and to examine how many of these still have a shot. Maybe deep down, I’m too pessimistic this time around. Maybe after watching the releases for the last year I finally started to understand what Microsoft and the Developer/Publishing companies are really pushing to the BC program. Find out more inside.

Dead Space Ignition and Escape Dead Island added to Backwards Compatibility!!
Welp, an announcement and two more games. I think the more important thing, at least out of the Dead Space Ignition announcement is that this means they are gearing up to release Dead Space 2 on BC. DSI if you remember is actually a companion game to DS2 and if they are releasing the companion game first, then its a near certainty DS2 is right behind it. Watch, I’ll be wrong, lol. Anyway, Escape Dead Island has a few fans out there too, so this is most welcome. As it turns out, for those new to Escape Dead Island, there is a meaty piece of Free DLC w/achievements too which there is a link to below. Enjoy!
- Dead Space Ignition $4.99
- Escape Dead Island $19.99 (Much cheaper on disc, bargain bin pricing even)
- DLC w/achievements: Underwater Labs FREE
Deals with Gold for the week of November 15th, 2016
Welp, I finished Mars: War Logs. The hardest fight was certainly not the last fight, it was instead this three part fight they stuck in a mission prior to the final mission. I won’t spoil it, but I will say be sure to have health injection packs ready. I finished the game with the Honor ending, now I will be going back and play the Third chapter over with the Resistance to get that ending. Then I will move on to something else. Interestingly enough, I might be moving to the lone BC deal of the week, Bound by Flame, another Spiders title. I already own it on disc, but if I didn’t…be assured at $5 for Digital, it’s a bargain. So enjoy this week, I’m sure we’ll have a couple of good announcements in store.
Bound by Flame | Games On Demand | 75% | $4.99 |
Skate 3 and Scarygirl added to Backwards Compatibility!!
This week has had some nice surprises and they kept it up today. Skate 3…finally, and all of the fanboys screaming about it can shut up. Thank god…now just to worry about the COD Black Ops 2 people. (Maybe I should start a fanboy group dedicated to screaming Gun (the Activision classic) at the top of our lungs). The nice thing about Skate 3 is that it is currently on sale for only $9.99 (usually $11.99). It does however have three pieces of DLC w/achievements (one of which is free) which I will mention below. Scarygirl will probably be missed by most people but it’s an interesting arcade title that I could see myself picking up during a sale. Good stuff, heck great stuff. Have a wonderful time playing Mass Effect 2,3, Guardian Heroes and Skate 3 (or any of the other releases) this week, enjoy.
- Skate 3
$11.99$9.99 (also available on disc)- DLC w/ Achievements:
- DLC w/o Achievements (but you might want it anyway):
- Scarygirl $9.99
Guardian Heroes & Operation Flashpoint: Red River added to Backwards Compatibility!!
The one year anniversary week keeps going with another bang. Guardian Heroes is a fantastic game and while I wasn’t entirely sure it was going to make it, but it did. Operation Flashpoint: Red River is one of those only available on disc, but it does have one piece of DLC w/achievements (which is way overpriced at $6.99). A couple of worthwhile games, and everybody who doesn’t have Guardian Heroes should go buy it now. It’s only a $5, and you are guaranteed to have some fun. Enjoy.
- Guardian Heroes $4.99
- Operation Flashpoint: Red River (Physical copies start at ~$10-$12)
BC Deals with Gold for the week of November 8th, 2016
Welp, here are the deals for this week. There might be a gem or two on the Xbox One side, but the 360 side is kind of barren with two Dirt games and Counterstrike GO. All three of which if you had wanted them before, there were plenty of opportunities to get them and at better prices. I think it would probably be better just to pin your hopes on getting more games added to BC this week. Here is hoping they are good ones. Enjoy.
Counter-Strike: GO | Games On Demand | 50% | $7.49 |
DiRT 3 | Games On Demand | 75% | $6.24 |
DiRT Showdown | Games On Demand | 75% | $3.74 |
Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3 added to Backwards Compatibility!!
I finished Diablo III (Ultimate Evil Edition) for the Xbox 360 over the weekend. 100%ed and everything…6 lovely characters at level 70. Go me (or something).
Anyway, this week is the 1 year anniversary of Xbox One goes backwards compatible. I did expect some big announcements and the first day has started off with a bang. We get not only Mass Effect 2 but also Mass Effect 3. Which effectively makes the entire Mass Effect Trilogy part of the BC movement. Now remember neither of these two games are available digitally to buy. However, physically they are both cheap to get. I myself have the Mass Effect trilogy which is a nice compilation package. (Even if it does not have the DLC). Enjoy these two fantastic games.
Limbo added to Backwards Compatibility!?
This one is a bit confusing, but I guess a BC game is a BC game. Limbo is actually available on both Xbox 360 and Xbox One already. (They ported it over) Furthermore, I think it was for a week earlier this year, Limbo on Xbox One was given away to just about everybody. So everybody who liked Limbo pretty much has it, on both systems if they really had a thing for it. I will point out that Limbo for the 360 is also available on retail/physical disc, via the Xbox 360 Triple Pack with Trials HD and Splosion Man. It goes for about $10 and is quite the value. Enjoy, I guess.
- Limbo $9.99 (also available on physical disc as part of the Xbox Triple Pack)
Blue Dragon has been added to Backwards Compatibility (5.5 million!!’s)
I suppose it’s anti-climatic at this point because it was announced as confirmed a while back, but Blue Dragon is backwards compatible. Awesome news. The only part that might suck is that used copies start at around $20 and keep on going (and no digital copies are available). Much like Lost Odyssey too, expect those used copies to fly out of whatever location they might be. But it’s here, it’s glorious and I’m happy.
