JUJU, Mad Tracks and Stuntman: Ignition added to Backwards Compatibility!?*
If I could put WTF on the end of these BC releases, I probably would. I’m still not sure what fascination Microsoft constantly has with racing releases but we get 2 more today to BC. I’m sure Stuntman is in the pipeline for a GWG release, I’m half joking. JUJU does appear to be a nice looking platformer and one of those rare arcade games with 1,000 gamerpoints. But overall, this is a very meh group. It is three more releases and I’m happy about that, but that’s about it.
- JUJU $14.99
- Mad Tracks $9.99
- Stuntman: Ignition $14.99 (much cheaper on disc)
BC Deals with Gold for the Week of January 31st, 2017
So, I finally conquered Gems with War last week. Level 100, all title update achievements, etc. Hopefully, that’s the end of it for at least a little while. I could do without a match 3 battle game for some time. Watch Marvel Puzzle Quest go on sale next week. The only thing I’m really actively playing right now is Plants vs Zombies GW 2. I am going through some of the epic quests I have stored up but I’m not sure how long I’ll last. I played it for about an hour yesterday and was getting bored quickly, 30 minutes really seems to be the sweet spot with that game. Which means I’ll need something else to play with it, but I’m not sure what that is.
Anyway, I am sad to report that despite there being sales, there are no BC sales per say. I am interested a tid bit in Anna, but after grabbing three games last week (DarkStar One, Blood Knights and Sonic the Fighters)…I might sit this one out. Dark I was interested in around the time of its release but after it got slammed by critics I’ve ignored it ever since. However, I will say that the game can be had cheaply, plus you get the DLC for cheap as well (which gets good reviews if you like the game). Anyway, hope you enjoy your week. Hopefully we get a few good BC releases this week. Later.
Rocket Knight and Shadows of the Damned added to Backwards Compatibility!!
A couple of good games have made their way to BC today. Rocket Knight has great visuals and was under appreciated about half a dozen years ago when it came out. Shadows of the Damned I actually purchased on disc for about $5 out of some bargain bin a few years back and is another gem from the minds of Suda 51/Grasshopper Manufacture. Speaking of Grasshopper, since Killer is Dead and Shadows of the Damned are now BC, where the heck is Lollipop Chainsaw??! Anyway, It’s a couple of unusual/underappreciated releases for BC today…all the more reason to pick one up and give it a try. Enjoy.
- Rocket Knight $14.99
- Shadows of the Damned $19.99 (cheaper on disc)
Alice: Madness Returns added to Backwards Compatibility!
The news keeps on coming, and it’s a good one. Alice: Madness Returns is a fantastic game and what’s even better is that the original game is free DLC (and has achievements to boot). I remember when the game first came out, I was pretty darn adamant to get a new copy because it had a voucher for the first game (because it was $9.99 normally). But now its free and everybody can be happy, lol. Enjoy.
- Alice: Madness Returns $19.99 (About the same if you buy a retail disc).
- Free DLC w/Achievements: American McGee’s Alice
Games with Gold for February 2017 Announced
This is why I don’t go to Vegas. No Batman game and the selection is awful. This is downright cringe worthy. Also, I’m not sure what Xbox’s fascination is with free car games…as we get yet another one with Project Cars for the Xbox One. I mean, I love the Monkey Island series, but I bought them both a long time ago so it doesn’t mean much. I will say the free digital copy of the Star Wars game is nice too, but the only reason I’m interested in Star Wars anymore is because my son was born on Star Wars day. Anyway, here they are, try to enjoy.
Xbox One
February 1st – 28th – Lovers in a Dangerous SpaceTime
February 16th – March 15th – Project Cars
Xbox 360
February 1st – 15th – Monkey Island 2: Special Edition
February 16th – 28th – Star Wars: Force Unleashed
BC Deals for the Week of January 24th, 2017
Welp, I finally finished Batman: The Telltale Series last weekend. Like some of you that finished the game, I did have a glitch in episode 5 which required me to replay about 45 minutes worth to get the 4th part to pop the achievement. But minus that tiny glitch, it was an excellent story as always. Not quite as good as Tales from the Borderlands…but pretty awesome in its own right.
Speaking of Batman, I saw that there will be a Games with Gold announcement today. It had Major’s face with a graphic of Batman next to it. Soooo…if I was to speculate, I would think it would either be Batman: Arkham Origins or Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate since those are the two games left out by the recent remaster. Personally, I have no desire to play Blackgate so I’m hoping for the former. More than likely, it won’t be something like Arkham City, Asylum, or Knight I’m pretty sure.
Finally, I am now level 97 in Gems of War….3 levels to go until 100. Of course the server has been acting wonky last night and this morning, so who knows what’s going to happen in the last 3 levels for me. This week’s announcement of BC deals sees a lot of different deals which is quite excellent. Sure it is mostly of the Sonic variety (surprising that not more of these are BC but I’m sure they will soon be), but there are a few others outlined below. In the I’m not a BC game but it should be department, DarkStar One has to be of interest at $1.99. So enjoy your week, and pick out something from the sale this week…cause even if Sega does a lot of rehash…it is quality rehash (most of the time). Enjoy.

Midway Arcade Origins, Mutant Storm Empire, and Tekken 6 added to Backwards Compatibility!!!
An interesting mix on this lovely Thursday. I used to own Tekken 6 once upon a time, but got rid of it when I realized I had too many fighting games that I did not play. I don’t regret it, but had this announcement came earlier, I might have held onto it. Midway Arcade Origins is a great compilation and I’m eager to put the disc in again (also available digitally) and see if I can snag maybe a couple more achievements. Mutant Storm Empire is yet another Microsoft published title…I would think they are running out of Microsoft published games but then Outpost Kaloki X is still out there and I’m crossing my fingers on that one. Enjoy.
- Midway Arcade Origins $19.99 (might be a little cheaper on disc, but not much)
- Tekken 6 $14.99 (a little cheaper on disc)
- Mutant Storm Empire $9.99
BC Deals with Gold for the week of January 17th, 2017
Another fine week, well okay…it’s just an average week I guess. I am up to level 92 in Gems of War (only 8 to go), finished the 4th episode of Batman: Telltale and still grinding out achievements in Plants vs Zombies GW 2. I am in the mood for something new, that’s for sure…especially once I finish Gems of War and Batman (which should be in a week or two). This week we do actually see a couple of sales, Jurassic Park and the very popular to sales, Mars: War Logs. Personally I can tell you that if you can get through the clumsiness of the Mars’ fighting engine, you’ll get well worth the meager $2.49 Xbox space bucks you are going to spend in pure story & environment. Jurassic Park is also well worth the $5 too since the disc is not easy to come by at a reasonable price.
But the most interesting thing about this sale is not a BC game at all and that’s Omerta. The game is only $5 this week and all of the DLC is 50% off including the one DLC w/achievements, Japanese Incentive. This DLC basically added KKK members and samurai sword action to a game that can be described as a poor man’s X-Com with mobsters. It really turned the game on its ear. Anyway, I happen to own the disc to this one, but never got around to purchasing the DLC..so needless to say Japanese Incentive is already purchased as of this morning (and I’m looking into the other DLC as we speak). Hopefully in the next month or so, Omerta and all of the DLC goes BC because this is the perfect opportunity to jump on all of it. Enjoy.
Wednesday Update: As it turns out, Bound by Flame also cropped up on sale. I’m half surprised Faery didn’t as well. See the link below, great price (too bad I have it on disc).
Jurassic Park | Games On Demand | 75% | $4.99 |
Mars: War Logs | Arcade | 75% | $2.49 |
Bound by Flame | Games on Demand | 75% | $4.99 |
Mega Man 9, Mega Man 10 and Beat’n Groovy added to Backwards Compatibility!!!
Well this one of these games are not like the other two. In fact, Beat n Groovy probably shouldn’t even be allowed to be called a game at all. Well I mean it is a rhythm game, but it is an absolutely horrible one. Mega 9 and 10 are good sequels to the iconic franchise so those are excellent additions. Not much else to report. Enjoy.
- Mega Man 9 $9.99
- Mega Man 10 $9.99
- Beat n Groovy $9.99 (dear GOD, $10 bucks WHY?!)
Dragon Age: Origins, Battlefield: Bad Company 2, Battlefield 3, Strania, The Splatters, Scrap Metal, & Ghostbusters have been added to Backwards Compatibility!!!!!!!
Now, this is what we call a whole lotta BC love. The biggest draw here is either DA: Origins or Battlefield 2 & 3. I personally own two copies of Dragon Age Origins, the original steelbook & the ultimate edition. I also have the guides for the original game and the main piece of dlc: Awakening. It’s an incredibly massive game and glad that it is finally a part of the BC program. Do me a favor and save yourself the trouble, but if you don’t own DA: Origins, Battlefield 2 or Battlefield 3 and want to, buy the Ultimate/Complete editions on disc. They are all reasonably priced and that way you don’t have to worry about this very nickel and dime downloadable content. Normally, I would not use a “More” tag, but considering the amount of DLC links, I figured it was wise to split it up. Enjoy!
