Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon & F1 2014 added to Backwards Compatibility!!

Well, these two titles have nothing in common with each other outside of the fact that there are both a physical and digital copy of each.  Good luck finding F1 2014 in a physical copy though, those will run you about $40-$50.  Thankfully EDF: IA is significantly cheaper on that front.  Actually, I believe you can find copies of that game at a lot of retailers in their bargain bin (Target for example if my memory serves me correctly).  Enjoy kids.

BC Deals with Gold for the Week of July 11th, 2017

Welp, I’ve been playing a lot of Valkyria Revolution.  I’m in Chapter 3, most of my characters are levels 15-16 (okay so I’ve been grinding a bit) and I’m progressing well.  I would imagine I would probably be playing this game for the next couple of months because  A)I’m enjoying myself (Take that Has-Been Heroes) and B)Most people say completion is about 60-80 hours.  Which means for me..several months.  I would imagine I break that up with something short and sweet (probably a Telltale game) but that’s probably about it.

Anyway, we got sales.  A lot of Sonic and a little of Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood.  I really wish they would put some of the oddball Sega stuff on sale and not just Sonic all the time.  On the X1 side, I might pick up Momodora (it looks like my spice of life).  I want Dex, but that 30% off isn’t going to cut it.  So I’ll keep waiting.  But some good stuff this week, it’s not an Ultimate Game sale, but it’s not bad either.  Enjoy.

Halo titles (3,ODST, 4, Anniversary) coming soon to Backwards Compatibility!

Well, no actual BC announcements today but it does look like some games very near and dear to a lot of Xbox player’s hearts will eventually be backwards compatible.  Halo 3, Halo 3 ODST, Halo 4, and Halo Anniversary will all be playable soon thanks to the BC program.  What’s even more important perhaps is the statement which says “every Xbox 360 Halo add-on map pack in the Xbox Store will be made available for free”.  This is fantastic if you were one of those folks who could never afford the map packs but were always curious how they played.  I mean honestly (and somebody can correct me if I’m wrong) but all of the Halo games (maybe not ODST) still support a pretty healthy multiplayer scene on Live.  And a BC announcement will only make it more healthy.  Good stuff, hope you are having a nice quiet week.

BC Deals with Gold for the Week of July 4th, 2017

And who says I don’t work on Holidays?  Well, I had a couple of minutes and I saw the post from MajorNelson and figured I would share with you folks.  The sad part is that there are no BC games which is unfortunate.  I still say though that these Worms games will go BC at point, probably all in one day.  But when?  I couldn’t tell you.  That is also a pretty good sale on the DBZ games, but BC compatible, I’d think you would have a better shot perhaps with the Warriors games that are also on sale. Oh, one more recommendation before I go, Valkyria Revolution.  I started playing it over the weekend, and I’m very impressed so far.  One thing though, the first hour of playing it is very “cut scene heavy”….but that’s because it is setting up this massive shades of grey story.  It’s good, it really is.  I just hope people give it a chance.  Enjoy kids.

Ultimate Game Sale June 30th to July 10th, 2017

Well, because I always love working on Fridays (*Sarcasm*), it’s a very special edition of BC Deals with Gold or BC Ultimate Game Sale, or…it’s a bunch of games and they aren’t normal price day.  This sale runs from June 30th to July 10th and even though they are supposed to add stuff from time to time, its usually Xbox One and here we primarily deal with BC games.  But if one pops through, I will try to catch it.

Before I get on to the games, I will point out that Has Been Heroes did get a patch of sorts.  Two things I’ve noticed is that the text on the bottom of the screen is much clearer and parts (I stress parts) are a little easier.  The Brothers Trio (Level 2 Boss) aren’t as crazy as they used to be and if you know what you are doing, they can be floored fairly easy.  Still die later on the next level, but that’s the game for you.

Anyway, here is a link to the full sale.  And then after the —More— is everything that’s BC specific.  Prices will be put in over this morning, it’s just going to take sometime.

Call of Duty: Ghosts added to Backwards Compatibility!

Well this one I’m sure will be appreciated by the COD crowd (especially those who don’t like to upgrade).  As most of you know, I’m not a big COD fan, and if I were to be…I would certainly not go for this one first.  Anyway, if you are knew to Ghosts, it is a very digital price for both the game and season pass (includes 4 map packs, all with achievements).  At least with the game you have the option of getting the disc at a much more reasonable price.  Season Pass, perhaps they will put it on sale soon, one can hope.  Enjoy.

Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood, Blazing Angels: Squadrons of WWII, Cyber Troopers: Virtual ON OT, Radiant Silvergun & Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando 3 added to Backwards Compatibility!!!!!

Maybe I should complain more often.   While none of these are barn busters (AC: Brotherhood is probably very desired but I never really got into the series), they are excellent to get us back on the road so to speak.  2 retail, 3 digital (one of which is available in a physical collection) sounds really good to me.  Here are the tweets, and then of course links.  Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy.

July 2017 Games with Gold Announced!

Sometimes you do wish the rumors are wrong, but in this case?  Absolutely right.  Welp, here we go.  I guess the only good part about this is that I can get rid of my Lego Pirates game which was bought for about $10 used and then never played.  This might however convince me to try out K&L 2 though even if I haven’t played the first one.  We’ll see what happens.  Onwards and upward.  Enjoy.

Xbox One

  • Grow Up (July 1-31)
  • Runbow (July 16-August 15)

Xbox 360

  • Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days (July 1-15)
  • Lego Pirates of the Caribbean (July 16-31)

BC Deals with Gold for the Week of June 27th, 2017

So last week, I did actually start a new game and then subsequently finish it in the same weekend.  Her Majesty’s Spiffing.  Only took me 3 hours of game time which is probably 1 more than most people will need (I’m just slow).  It was on sale and I still felt like I paid a bit much.  This week, I am eagerly awaiting a pre-order of Valkyria Revolution.  As most of you know, I’m a big supporter of JRPG’s…so I went the extra mile to pre-order this one.  As far as BC announcements this week, I only expect Games with Gold for July.  I want more BC games (and there are plenty out there to be had) but Microsoft has gotten lazy.  Yes, lazy.  No excuse (E3 doesn’t count) to not have something coming out BC wise in now over a month of time.  I just hope they aren’t pulling what they did with the OG compatibility in the 360.  In other words, make everybody feel warm and fuzzy and then wander over to another project (and leave that one behind).  I told all of you people who wanted Black Ops 2 to be careful what you wish for.

Anyway, here are the sales for this week.  As you can tell, a whole heap of nothing.  Alien Breed has been on sale before and there is no current reason to believe that it will make BC.  Anyway, we should have a Games with Gold announcement later and I’ve read the rumors.  It’s not pretty or anything to be happy for.  Maybe we’ll get a BC announcement later.  Maybe pigs will fly.  Enjoy kids.

BC Deals with Gold for the Week of June 20th, 2017

Welp, I’m going to make this quick and sweet (I’ll explain later).  Here are the deals from the Major.  There are two BC deals, good if you want Dead Space 2 and 3, not much else though.  I’ll patch in later with why I had to make this so short.  Thanks.
