BC Deals with Gold for the Week of December 5th, 2017

Welp, I finished my second playthrough of Oxenfree.   This was the strong silent playthrough which leaves the mean playthrough where I piss everybody off for the last one.  I would like to finish it this year, but I might give it a rest until I feel like messing with that last go around.  I do think however that I’m pretty much done with Infinite Minigolf, they sorely need to fix the short putting in that game.  A 2 inch putt should not be an adventure.  I would like to start a new game, but I’m not sure exactly what I want to start.  We’ll see I guess.

As Major Nelson mentioned in a Tweet earlier this week, there will be no more BC games for the  year.  I’m not too thrilled about that considering we did have some games last year in December and the output was lower this year than last.  I was also secretly hoping they would slide a couple more OG Xbox games too, but no, unfortunately not.  We do have some sales though, just nothing earth shattering. There are lots of bundles on the X1 side, just be careful you don’t get the same game in 2 different bundles.  No, I haven’t done that, but I could see how someone else could.  The only thing of interest for me is possibly the Starpoint Gemini 2 Gold Pack.  It’s still $16, but it has over $40 of content.  I’ve been jonesing for a space simulator and Elite Legendary Edition (Retail version is now $20 at Gamestop) is a little too complicated for me.  So maybe this is the one.  We’ll see.  Enjoy.

Earth Defense Force 2017 & Sonic Adventure 2 added to Backwards Compatibility!!

Well, it’s not often we get two separate announcements in a week anymore, but hey we appreciate it when it happens.   Earth Defense Force 2017 is actually a 2007 title despite the name because you are well fighting bugs in the future :).  Sonic Adventure 2 is appreciated as it is another Sonic title.  But it is also adds unnecessary DLC as well which will drive achievements hunters crazy.  Two to the hopper though.    Still would like to know if Sega is going to get around to putting Alpha Protocol, Condemned 2 or even Phantasy Star Universe (just the single player component) on BC.  Enjoy all the same.

Peggle 2 and Marlow Briggs & The Mask of Death added to Backwards Compatibility!!!

Welp, Peggle 2 has been added to Backwards Compatibility.  I guess I can close up shop for the day.  Scratch that, the YEAR!  No but seriously, it’s a fun game even if there is an Xbox One port, even if I have it 100% finished, all achievements, etc.  Marlow Briggs was expected as it was announced recently that it is going to be a GWG for Mid December.  I have a feeling that game though is going to be more fun than the silly title implies.  Hopefully, we get a few more BC titles including some OG Xbox announcements soon.  Enjoy.

BC Deals for the Week of November 28th, 2017

It’s been a long vacation week and I mean in that in the worst possible way.  This is the first day where I actually feel ok.  I’ve had bronchitis for about a week and thought I was getting better until Sunday night where I came down with the worst fever and chills imaginable.  Get my butt to an urgent care on Monday, pumped full of drugs and ready to go.  I am still in my second playthrough of Oxenfree (about 2/3rds through) and playing a lot of Infinite Mini-Golf which I am quickly getting tired of.  When you miss a 2 inch putt for the umpteenth time, it tends to get on your nerves.  Not worth my $7.50…sorry.

Here are the sales for this week.  Not too much in the way of BC, but fantastic discounts of 80% to 90%.  I have Conan on disc, but at $2…I can get rid of my disc.  It’s not exactly a collector’s item (or an RPG which I like having discs for).  I would purchase ArcaniA at $2, but I already own it.  On the Xb1 side, I think Shiness finally deserves my attention at $9.90.   That’s it, enjoy your week, I’ll be moving through mine.

Games with Gold for Month of December 2017

Welp, thought there wouldn’t be any major news this week, but I guess I was wrong.  Here are the Games with Gold titles for December 2017.  Well I had almost bought that Warhammer game several times.  On the flip side, I did buy the Back to the Future game.  I guess I can sell off my disc now.  On the 360 side, it looks like we have a new BC title in that Marlow Briggs game which I’ve honestly never heard of.  Hopefully it’s good.  Child of Eden I can take it or leave it honestly.  But not awful, that’s for sure.  Enjoy your Thanksgiving festivities.

Xbox One

  • Warhammer: End Times – Vermintide (December 1st-30th)
  • Back to the Future Game: 30th Anniversary Edition (December 16th – January 15th)

Xbox 360

  • Child of Eden (December 1st-15th)
  • Marlow Briggs and the Mask of Death (December 16th-31st)

BC Deals for the Week of November 21st, 2017

Welp, I can safely say I did “start” my second play through of Oxenfree, I didn’t get very far.  I did however start playing Infinite Mini-Golf which is both fun and frustrating.  Fun, well it is mini-golf and I never met a mini-golf game that wasn’t at least a little bit as such.  Frustrating because the mechanics are a little messed up in the sense that short putts are nightmares.  The power meter is VERY twitchy so overhit it and watch it go all over the place, underhit and watch it go half a foot with only a foot to go.  So I’m trying to get used to it.

In addition to the sales I posted on Friday, we do have a few new sales. Blood Knights is a good pickup for those who did not grab it the first time it was on sale after it was made BC. Most of you already have Red Faction Armageddon since it was a Games with Gold selection.  I would say take a look at God Mode even though it’s not BC.   It’s got retro shooter elements, it’s got some RPG elements, and it’s only $2.  But regardless whether you get something from the previous Friday sale or one here, just enjoy your gaming and your turkey this week.  I’ll try to, but hopefully this cough goes away soon or I’ll be in bed while everyone else is having fun.

BC Black Friday Sales for Gold Members 11/16/2017

These sales actually started yesterday, so I do need to apologize.  In my defense, I was busy with my real job and Xbox 360 sales didn’t really show up until this morning.  For Gold Members, these run until the 21st, and then everybody gets their hands on them.  Also, bear with me, the list will be available as soon as I publish the post but links are going to take a good chunk of this morning (Edit: Done at 9:10).  We are talking about 70+ items that I’m more or less hand-typing because I don’t have Major’s handy dandy post to copy and paste from (thankfully True Achievements did have a listing I could type from). The X1 has some good sales too as you might expect but if you had been putting off some BC sales, then this might be your redemption.  Final note, all sales are after the –More–.  Enjoy.

Persona 4 Arena, Cars Mater-National, Jewel Quest & Tecmo Bowl Throwback added to Backwards Compatibility!!!!

Ahhh, I feel much better after an announcement of backwards compatible games.  Happy even.  So happy, I went ahead and bought Persona 4 Arena through Ebay.  True story, well I was going to get it through Gamestop which had it for $6.99 but the one right here had 1 copy and it was Gamestop case and disc.  You might as well sell me a piece of used cheese.  Went on Ebay and found a very good complete copy w/manual for $8.00 shipped.  I’m sure I would have spent a lot more than a $1 in gas trying to find a gamestop with the coverart and manual.

Cars Mater-National ought to please Achievement hunters as the game is very easy and the 1,000 achievement points comes quickly.  Also, I could see myself buying Jewel Quest or Tecmo Bowl in a sale situation.  Because who can say no to match 3 games and good ole fashioned football games.  Not many, so enjoy your BC Tuesday.

BC Deals with Gold for the Week of November 14th, 2017

Welp, this past week I spent a lot of time with Oxenfree.  I finished my first playthrough, going for a “happy ending”.  As I said in the review, it is a well done game and I look forward to doing a silent playthrough next.  I’m not sure about a third “mean” playthrough but we’ll see.

There are at least a few things resembling sales this week.  The only thing I’m probably getting this week personally is Soul Axiom for the X1.  I really hope we do get something for BC this week, this month in light of the Xbox One X arrival has been slim pickings.  I guess they are focusing on Next, rather than past.  It’s a shame because there are still plenty of games that need the push to BC.  Enjoy kids.

BC Deals with Gold for the Week of November 7th, 2017

I did not play too much last week, mostly worked on the achievement in Pinball FX3 where you max out all of your wizard powers/upgrades on a single table.  I’ll probably play FX3 a lot less now because I finished that, but it does open up things a bit.  Mostly to play Oxenfree which is probably what I’m focusing on for a couple of weeks.  Not too much in sales this week. I keep wondering when the Worms series will finally be made BC, I’m not sure what they are waiting for at this point.  I do notice that Worms 2 is not part of the sales list which makes me think that it will be the first one to go.  It would be really nice if they went ahead with Deadpool and made it BC too.  It’s not like they are making that much money off of it anymore.  *sigh*, probably a license thing.  Enjoy.
