Games with Gold for Month of May 2018

Looks like the new Games with Gold are being announced today.   Yes, this was rumored over the weekend but I rarely report on the weekends and also it was a rumor.  History tells us that even  though rumors are often true, they are often false as well.  So, in this case, I can certainly wait.  Not to mention, it’s not exactly the greatest Games with Gold we have had in a while.  Actually this is probably one of the weaker offerings unless you really like Baseball and Metal Gear.  On the 360 side, I already own Streets of Rage which makes this an even more skip worthy month.  But Vanquish is supposed to be pretty decent, so maybe I’ll give that a try.  Enjoy kids.

Xbox One

  • Super Mega Baseball 2 (May 1st-31st)
  • Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain (May 16th – June 15th)

Xbox 360

  • Sega Vintage Collection: Streets of Rage (May 1st-16th)
  • Vanquish (May 16th-31st)

First New Wave of Xbox Originals on Backwards Compatibility are now LIVE!!!!!!!!

As promised, here is the first new wave of titles from the Xbox Originals lineup to go backwards compatible.  Discs or the digital links below should work.  I will try some of the discs later on tonight when I have the opportunity.  Enjoy, and I would say if you like having these additions, pick up one or two digitally to support the service.  I would certainly like to see more of these games, especially titles like Indigo Prophecy and maybe the original Fable (yes I know we have Anniversary, but it would be nice).  Enjoy!

Official Tweets – Here and Here.

BC Deals with Gold for the Week of April 17th, 2018

Welp, I did start a new game last week.  For those who are not familiar, I am a fan of the Ys’ series of games.  And for the longest time, I really haven’t not played any of their games because well, I don’t own a PS3 or PS4.  Well, that changed last week when Ys Origins was released to the Xbox One.  I’ve played through the first two major bosses and its a tough game, even on easy.  I am going to try and stick with it, but I’ll need some time and probably a few guides for this one.  It is fun though and reminds me of the Ys games that I played on Turbo Grafx and Super Nintendo.

Anyway, we have got sales.  Not really much here unless you want to complete your Dead Space or Mass Effect sets.  More importantly around 11am central, 9am pacific (or high noon on the east coast), we will get the first new wave of Xbox Original Backwards Compatibility titles released to the masses.  Even though I own them physically, I am very interested in getting Morrowind and Jade Empire digitally.  A few of the others like Breakdown and Hunter: The Reckoning I have on disc but unless they go on sale, it’s not worth it to me to grab them digital.  Morrowind, I would like to keep my Game of the Year disc away from a certain toddler who shall remain nameless.  Jade Empire, my copy is actually sealed so I’m really reluctant to mess with that.  Anyway, in about 4 hours, I’ll post the links you’ll need (or tell you to just throw in the disc).  Enjoy.

Nineteen Original Xbox Games are coming to Backwards Compatibility! (I don’t have enough exclamation marks)

Late yesterday, we got a very awesome announcement of NINETEEN original Xbox games being added to backwards compatibility.  They will be released in waves, first eight on April 17th (next Tuesday), and then another eleven on April 26th (the following Thursday).  Among them besides a ton of Star Wars, we get gems like Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, Jade Empire, Destroy All Humans!, and Panzer Dragoon Orta.  The nice part is I own a lot of these (Breakdown, Morrowind, Jade Empire, etc).

One of the ones I would want to own is Panzer Dragoon, but that goes for pretty rough prices on Ebay.  If it is $10 digitally, I will certainly opt for that.  Heck, I might opt for the digital package of Morrowind if it includes all of the DLC (just so I don’t have to mess with the disc).  The full list is below, I’ll be updating the spreadsheet later today but this announcement is certainly the best of the year so far.  Enjoy!

Original Xbox games releasing on April 17:

  • Blinx: The Time Sweeper
  • Breakdown
  • Conker: Live & Reloaded
  • The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind
  • Hunter: The Reckoning
  • Jade Empire
  • Panzer Dragoon Orta
  • SSX 3

Original Xbox games releasing on April 26:

  • Destroy All Humans!
  • Full Spectrum Warrior
  • Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction
  • MX Unleashed
  • Panzer Elite Action: Fields of Glory
  • Star Wars Battlefront
  • Star Wars Battlefront II
  • Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy
  • Star Wars Jedi Starfighter
  • Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords
  • Star Wars Republic Commando

BC Deals with Gold for the Week of April 10th, 2018

Well, I finished the 3rd episode in Batman: Enemy Within.  Pretty chilling stuff (which is quite the pun if you have actually played the game).  I also took the time to play some Pinball FX3 in which I grabbed a couple of table achievements and the final base game achievement that I was missing.  Surprisingly enough, only 215 people (out of nearly 13,000 players) have finished the base game on TrueAchievements.  Heck, I’m even on the first page (just barely) of the leaderboard for that game.  Truth be told, I suck at Pinball.  I guess I’m just good enough at games in general that I could somehow finagle my way to get the achievements I have.

Anyway, enough about that…we have sales.  This is being called the Spring DLC week because for once we get a lot of DLC sales.  Good stuff including Elder Scrolls: Oblivion DLC, Fallout (3 and New Vegas) DLC and even a piece of free DLC for Dead Space 2,   Also, expect some OG Xbox BC news today.  I’ve heard Morrowind (yes, Elder Scrolls!) and Destroy All Humans are leading the pack.  Click —Read More— for the sales and enjoy folks, it should be a good week.

Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag and Divinity II: Dragon Knight Saga added to Backwards Compatibility!!

Well, file these two titles in the sea of not really expecting it but can’t say I’m surprised by it either.  Assassin’s Creed IV after all of the other AC’s just makes sense at this point, regardless of the fact that there is a Xbox One port.  Divinity II is a solid RPG experience and despite the fact that we are getting some primo RPGs for the X1 in the course of this calendar year (Ys: Origins, Shining Resonance, Valkyria Chronicles), we can always use a goodie from a few years ago to tide us over.  Also, both of these titles are on sale this week due to the Spring Sale.  Yes, Tekken Tag Team 2 specials kids.  Enjoy.

BC Deals with Gold for the Week of April 3rd, 2018

Welp, I am now through the first two episodes of Batman: Enemy Within.  It’s been a pretty good story so far, I wish I could have done some things differently but I don’t regret any choices either.  (Wishing is different than regret)  Anyway, I’ll probably average an episode to episode and a half a week I figure, so I should be done with the other three in about 2 weeks.  Still searching for a second game to play and I really don’t feel like playing more Diablo.

Anyway, the sales this week are a more or less mirror image of the previous week, aka the Spring Sale.  It is worth noting that there is some FREE DLC for Gears of War 2 worth picking up that I’ll list here prior to the sale from last week (which is after the —Read More—).    Enjoy!

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is added to Backwards Compatibility!

The sad part about this is everybody wants the second one.   Well, except me, I’m about all out of caring anytime they announce yet another Call of Duty game is added to Backwards compatibility.  So many titles (which are clearly more deserving) I’ve sat here begging for backwards compatibility only to fall on deaf ears.  So to those complaining about how Modern Warfare 2 should be added first, blow me.   I normally am not so brash if you regularly read this blog, but COD has a special hate for me.  Anyway, COD 4: Modern Warfare is on sale this week making this a Tekken Tag Team 2 Special.  Enjoy kids.

Games with Gold for Month of April 2018

Looks like the new Games with Gold are being announced today.    I’ve almost bought Witness a few times and outside of Black Flag, this is the Assassin’s Creed I’ve probably been interested in most.  So that’s pretty awesome.  On the 360 side, Dead Space 2 is certainly worth playing and some of us with kids ought to be happy about Cars 2.  All in all, it’s one of the better months in a long time.  Enjoy kids.

Xbox One

  • The Witness (April 1st-30th)
  • Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate (April 16th – May 15th)

Xbox 360

  • Cars 2: The Video Game (April 1st-15th)
  • Dead Space 2 (April 16th-30th)

BC Deals with Gold for the Week of March 27th, 2018

Welp, first I want to apologize for this getting to you so late.  Life happened, so unfortunately I had to push this aside until I could give it the proper attention.  I did finish the Necromancer DLC in Diablo III over the weekend and promptly started Batman: Enemy Within.  I am nearly through the first episode and figured if I can do an episode a week, I’ll have it done before the end of April which is good enough for me.  In the meantime, I’ll be on the look out for some other game since I usually like playing two games at the same time (I get bored a lot less quickly).

Here are this week’s sales which include the spring sale.  As you can see, this part of why it took me so long.  There is a regular sale, but there is also Spring sale items as well.  So, that is that, enjoy until next week (or GWG or a BC announcement).  For sale items, just click on the -Read More-.  Enjoy kids.
