BC Deals with Gold for the Week of May 22nd, 2018

So I did actually finish Gone Home.  The speedrun for the diaries went pretty darn well as I got it on my second try thanks to doing some good notes on my own.  The guides never point to what’s going on in your own head, but my notes did.  In a weird moment, I decided to play the Xbox One version of Dig Dug and got 16/20 achievements.  It’s probably the four you are thinking of that I missed.  I might get one or two more, but most likely will not 100% it because of that stupid dig achievement (the one where you have to dig everywhere on one stage).  Its the same achievement that kept me from 100% the 360 version of Dig Dug.  There I go, spending a paragraph talking about a 35 year old game.  Moving on.

We do have some sales this week. It is a combination of “Often on Sale” and “Occasionally on Sale”.  So some of you might find something in this list that you accidentally missed one other time or not.  I’m kinda cruising this week game wise and kicking back and watching a couple of movies with my night time instead.  Right now, I’m watching Cloud Atlas.    Hopefully it comes together in the last hour because right now it’s flipping extremely fast through the various stories that make it up.  Anyway, enjoy kids.

Fight Night Champion added to Backwards Compatibility!

I honestly thought this one would be a nightmare due to the licensing issues that had to be involved.  But I guess not and this is one that a lot of people have been asking for and that goes beyond boxing fans.  I’ve played quite a few boxing games in my life and the last one I remember was Foes of Ali from the 3do days.  Of course, it’s changed a ton since then and I’m sure this one is way more complex than I care to mess with but I’m glad about its inclusion.  Maybe there is hope for NCAA Football 14 yet.  Anyway, a couple of notes.  There are 3 discontinued achievements in this game in relation to the Rivals Gym as that was discontinued.  Also, there are two pieces of DLC that are accessed within the game itself.  I don’t have the game, but I believe they are free, just have to be downloaded separately.  Enjoy.

BC Deals with Gold for the Week of May 15th, 2018

Welp, after playing a few odds and ends over the past week, I settled into a new game which will probably be completed by the weekend.   Gone Home, now now…don’t leave me just yet.  I needed something easy this week honestly, and that seemed like the perfect one to jump into.  And since it was a past GWG, it didn’t cost me anything.  I’ve got two achievements left at this point.  The speed run achievement to get all of the journals in 10 minutes and the developer’s commentary.  I already did the first run of the journals to get an idea of where everything was last night (took me an hour to map and jot everything down), and I think I’m ready tonight to go for it (in 1 or 2 tries).

Anyway, we got some sales.  On the 360 side, it’s unfortunately a case of same ole, same ole.  It’s funny that DMC 4 and Trilogy went on sale this week because I decided to go ahead and try to sell my hard copies.  I just find myself mostly playing RPG’s and Point and Clicks/Choose Your Own Story and the occasional Strategy.  Man, I’m getting old.  Enjoy kids.

Burnout Revenge added to Backwards Compatibility!

Interesting choice I do say.  I own this one as well, and did spend a lot of time on it back in the day.  Problem is 1) I haven’t touched it in years and 2)They turned off the servers for it much like they did with Paradise.  So I am glad it got to backwards compatibility but I have a feeling a lot of people are going to get all excited, play it for about an hour or two and then ignore it again.  It’s an excellent game (and I wish Paradise was really Revenge II if you catch my drift)…it’s just turn on the servers for 6 months or something, come on.  But Revenge is currently on sale so this makes for a Tekken Tag Team 2 special.  Enjoy kids.

BC Deals with Gold for the Week of May 8th, 2018

Welp, this weekend I kept down the path of cleaning up a couple of old games in Phantom Breaker: Battlegrounds and Burnout Paradise (360).  In Paradise, I got enough for the Burnout License (the one before elite) and actually found all of the events.  I then promptly uninstalled the game.  Why you ask?  Because I took an honest look at the rest of the achievements and realized it wasn’t going to happen.  The only one that had a chance was the smashes one, I’m at 382/400.  But combing the city to find the 18?  Doesn’t sound like a good use of time.  I also used to rage quit at racing games.  Some of these races were taking 2 and 3 times if not more and I could feel it bubbling to the surface again.  I’m not single, I care about my family, so I did the sensible thing and uninstalled.

Meanwhile, Phantom Breaker I did get my character up to max level which left me with the Perfect Fall achievement (which I have attempted at least 30 times) and the one where I go through all of the stages with Furui.  I know I can get the latter achievement, so I left it on my Xbox for now.  There will be some night in the future where I can spend a couple of hours gunning for that.  In the meantime, I’ll look for a new game to play.  Anyway, enough about that we have a few sales, well we have some Assassin’s Creed games.    I wish there was more on sale, but we’ll have to take what we can get.  Hopefully we’ll get a couple of really good BC games released this week (like last week).  Enjoy kids.

Dragon Age II added to Backwards Compatibility!!

This was going to happen eventually, and I’m glad it finally did.  Dragon Age II kinda had a misstep in terms of sales but its a very good game and deserves to be played (at least once you have stopped playing the first one).  I own all three Dragon Age games and would be glad to give this another spin.  I think I have the guide to this one too.  Anyway, there are three pieces of DLC on this title as well which unfortunately like the first Dragon Age, don’t have a GOTY/Ultimate package to fall back on.  So just be weary of that, but excellent choice and I’m glad to see this one on board.  Enjoy kids.

Saints Row 2 added to Backwards Compatibility!

Well, I don’t think anybody is really surprised by this announcement.  But perhaps people are thinking why did it take so long to get it?  Does this mean we’ll see the first Saints Row in 2019 (4 was in 2016, 3 was in 2017, 2 in 2018)?  What about Gat out of Hell?  Why do I have so many questions about a game I’ll probably never play?  Who knows.  Anyway, the only downside to this game is the ridiculously priced pieces of DLC.  The game we’ve seen on sale plenty of times, the DLC?  I’m thinking never.  *checks StoreParser*  Yep, never.  And there was no GOTY version either.  So pay $3 or $4 for the game(digital sale or disc) and $17 in DLC.  Yeah, that sounds great.  Enjoy kids.

BC Deals with Gold for the Week of May 1st, 2018

It’s May kids.  Gaming wise, I haven’t been doing much.  Y’s Origins is not going as well as I would hope.  It seems like I have to look up lots of things and it feels more platformy than it should.  I know everybody else seems to love it, but for me I could do with a little less jumping.  So when I get frustrated, I’m playing odd ball things that I started a while back and dropped for a variety of reasons.  Things like Poker Night 2, Phantom Breaker: Battlegrounds and Burnout Paradise.  All three of those have looming achievements that I’m trying to get to. We’ll see if I pick up something a little more substantial in the upcoming week.

Here are the sales.  They are certainly better than the previous week and we even have some DLC to boot too.  And we have our first Original Xbox BC Sales.  KOTOR is certainly worth $7 if you don’t already have it.  Hopefully this is a trend that continues, I’d love to get some of the other OG Xbox games at the $6-$7 range.  I don’t know if I’ll grab anything this week but we’ll see.  Enjoy kids.

Second Wave of Xbox Original Games are now Live for Backwards Compatibility!

So, here we go, with the second wave of Xbox Original games.  The pricing is good except for whatever they are trying to pull with Destroy All Humans!  I have the disc to that game, and it sure didn’t cost me $20 when I bought it.  It should be had at most places for about $10, maybe $15 if you want a really nice copy.  The other prices are in line with what i would expect.  Mercenaries, the Battlefronts, and Knights of the Old Republic II are the highlights here.  Thanks and enjoy.

Original Xbox games releasing on April 26 @11am CST:

BC Deals with Gold for the Week of April 24th, 2018

Welp, in the last week I did finish both episode 4 and 5 of Batman Telltale Season 2.  The ending was solid, tough decisions were made and I sincerely hope we get a Season 3 (mostly because I want to see where the decisions I made will truly go).  This week, I’m focusing on a couple of reviews for my old movie review site.  Probably not going to play very much, maybe I’ll play some Pinball FX.

Well, I would like to say there are plenty of Xbox 360 sales this week.  No, in fact only one game is on sale this week (Alien Breed Episode 1) and its not BC.  So, I got nothing.  We do have those other eleven games for OG Xbox Backwards Compatibility coming on Thursday.  Hopefully we have an announcement of something else before then.  Take care and have a good week.
