Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy & Tropico 4 added to Backwards Compatibility!!
Well, we can file this under a complete ho-hum. I’m sure there are a few Tropico fans (and perhaps old Lego game fans), but this announcement doesn’t do much for me. I keep hoping for a few more arcade games to go BC but it looks like those ships have sailed. So I’m not sure what that means for games like Worms or Outpost Kaloki X. But I’ll keep up hope for that the same way many of you are hoping for Max Payne 3 and others. Enjoy.
- Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy $14.99 (much cheaper on disc)
- Tropico 4 $9.99 (cheaper on disc)
- DLC w/Achievements: Modern Times $4.99 (also available on disc if you are willing to buy the Gold edition)
BC Deals with Gold for the Week of October 23rd, 2018
Welp, I did mix in a new game along with my current usuals of Minecraft Story (done with episode 5) and Batman: Arkham Asylum (Bane down). 3 Count Bout, an old Neo Geo title made new again by Hamster Corp who is putting out every Neo Geo title legally they can get their hands on. It’s a wrestling game that plays like a fighting game for the most part similar to Saturday Night Slammasters or Def Jam Vendetta. I was able to 100% the game in a little over 3 hours with absolutely no help (though I asked for some). Nice little accomplishment, TrueAchievements lists me as the 2nd person to finish the game, I’ll gladly take that.
Anyway, we do have some sales including something called Shocktober this week which lasts until Halloween. Unfortunately, Major Nelson had a broken link so I’m having to cull at least the BC sales from other sources. Once he posts an official working link, I will update the post but in the mean time here are some various links to help you along. Enjoy (and hit the more for all of the BC sales).

Crysis 1, 2 and 3 added to Backwards Compatibility!!!
Expected, but glad that this finally came around. In one of those rare cases (I usually go for physical copies), I actually have all three of these in digital format. The sad part? I played the third one for a hot moment (made it through the tutorial) and that’s really about it. I mean I’m sure I played the original on the PC, but this is one of those series that I always say I will get around to it and then never do. But great games, and worth taking a look at. Enjoy.
BC Games with Gold for the Week of October 16th, 2018
So the last week, I’ve been only playing two games. Minecraft Story (finished episode 4), and Batman: Arkham Asylum (about to go through the first Scarecrow section). Re-playing Batman AA has been a blast and even though I’m familiar with a lot of what is going on, it is still something of a new experience. Also the X1 port is freaking awesome, a lot of little tweaks I’ve noticed and appreciated.
Anyway, we do have some sales this week. There is a lot on this list that should be backwards compatible but is not like Duke Nukem 3d, Final Exam and RAW. I really wish there were a few more arcade BC games coming out but it really seems like they are focusing their efforts on the retail releases. Maybe today will change that, enjoy kids.

After Peace Walker, it was a safe bet that this was going to make it eventually. I still think if you can find it that the disc set is a much better option and worthwhile purchase. Enjoy!

BC Deals with Gold for the Week of October 9th, 2018
Welp, gaming wise last week was probably best described as weird. I blew through Altered Beast, I put Peggle down again (got the 20 million achievement and took a honest look at the Peggle Nights challenges left and said NOPE :)), re-started Minecraft Story (Episode 4), and started Batman: Arkham Asylum (Xbox One version). AA is such a lovely game, seriously. Provided I get enough time, it will be quite enjoyable going through it again.
But enough about that. We have sales! Much like Altered Beast was last week, Fighting Vipers has to be the I’d buy that for a dollar and complete in about an hour game. Virtua Fighter 2 also falls into that group, but it will cost you a couple of dollars instead. Daytona USA is also easy achievement fodder, but it was GWG I believe a while back (and I’ve already beat it) so $5 seems a little too much. The Worms games seemed shoe ins for backwards compatibility when we started this thing so I don’t even know what to think with those games. Maybe today, maybe not. Enjoy kids.
GAME | CONTENT TYPE | DISCOUNT | PRICE |
---|---|---|---|
Cyber Troopers Virtual On Oratorio Tangram* | Backward Compatible | 50% | $7.49 |

Fighting Vipers* | Backward Compatible | 75% | $1.24 |
Mafia II* | Backward Compatible | 75% | $7.49 |

Virtua Fighter 2* | Backward Compatible | 50% | $2.49 |
BC Deals with Gold for the Week of October 2nd, 2018
Again, this past week was a series of I didn’t get to really play anything except some Peggle because I was bored. I have played the original Peggle (backwards compatible) off and on for about as long as I have owned an Xbox 360. I never quite got everything mostly because I lose interest after a while Well this past week, I did finally finish off the challenges in the original version (not Nights). I’ll probably try to finish up the 20 million achievement as well and then put it back on the shelf for another year or so. I honestly don’t think I will ever have enough patience to do the 100% clear all original levels but I might try to do all of the challenges in Nights.
Anyway, we do have a few BC games on sale this week this week. Altered Beast everybody should pick up at a $1 if you don’t already have it. For the very simple reason, I picked it up last night and tried to get the multiplayer achievement….except nobody was on. So get on that! The same could be said with Toe Jam & Earl at $2.49. We should get a couple of BC announcements today, maybe we’ll get Max Payne 3 or something. We can hope. Enjoy.
GAME | CONTENT TYPE | DISCOUNT | PRICE |
---|---|---|---|
Altered Beast* | Games On Demand | 80% | $0.99 |
Faery: Legends of Avalon | Backward Compatible | 75% | $1.87 |
Sega Vintage Collection: ToeJam & Earl* | Backward Compatible | 75% | $2.49 |
SINE MORA* | Backward Compatible | 80% | $1.99 |
Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown* | Backward Compatible | 67% | $4.94 |
Games with Gold for Month of October 2018
Looks like the new Games with Gold were announced last night. On one hand, it’s not a bad selection of games but on the other I have the two I want physically (Victor Vran and Hitman: Blood Money). And yet another car game for the 360, geezus. If I was that bored, I might go figure out how many racing/car games we get a year with GWG. Anyway, I do miss the days when we would get a surprise with GWG in the form of a new BC game. But this month, that is not the case. Enjoy the rest of your week kiddoes.
Xbox One
- Overcooked (October 1st-31st)
- Victor Vran (October 16th – November 15th)
Xbox 360
- Stuntman Ignition (October 1st-15th)
- Hitman: Blood Money (October 16th-31st)
Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood & Call of Juarez: The Cartel added to Backwards Compatibility!!
Where the heck is Gun? Seriously, they add these two meh western games and we can’t get Gun because its probably lost in license hell. *sigh*. Anyway, I am glad for these two games because I often love western games even if most of them end up hard as heck (mostly in their attempt to be “realistic”). Bound in Blood is available in both digital and physical form while Cartel you will need to seek out a physical copy which should run you no more than $10 (Bound in Blood is also about $10 physically). Appreciate the games for sure, just wish it was an old favorite. Enjoy.
- Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood $19.99 (cheaper as physical copy).
- Call of Juarez: The Cartel (only available physically, ~$10)
BC Deals with Gold for the Week of September 25th, 2018
I would like to say I have played a ton of games last week or perhaps finished a game even. No, I can’t say I have been. I’ve been in a lot of pain and the capper was last night after my dental surgery when I literally could not sleep because of how much pain I was in. Eventually somewhere along the way I did pass out and had all sorts of weird dreams which ended in a nightmare and shook me awake. Somehow, I’m here writing to you but I’d be lying if I didn’t say I wish I was in a bed pumped full of some kind of painkillers instead of the lousy ones I’m on.
Anyway, we do have sales today, even if none of them are actually backwards compatible. Hey if nothing else, we have the easiest 360 game (Avatar) for achievements on sale. I actually have all of those Raven episodes but with a remaster on Xbox One, there is little chance of it ever becoming backwards compatible. So enjoy the rest of your week, and be thankful that you aren’t in the pain like I am. Take care.
