So, remember how last week I said that I would try to take back my work lunch?  Yeah, that did not last.  Somewhere between getting slammed and never coming up for air, I realized that during the week for the immediate future is just not going to work unless I basically come home and forget relaxing (though writing may actually relax me).  But basically, my mind goes off when the clock hits 4:30 and doesn’t turn back on (except sporadically) until 5:00am the next morning.

WWE All-Stars Brawl Stick

Well, I did get the Brawl Stick as mentioned last week.  It arrived on Wednesday and I am super glad I did because if I did not purchase it by Monday, I would be paying $5-$10 more.  However, I am not sure what I was on but alas there is no magical copy of WWE All-Stars inside the package, so I was bummed with that. Furthermore, I can find no traces of why I thought it in the first place.  Maybe it was all of the gameplay footage on the Amazon page.  You get a nice box, the controller is well packed inside and it has a couple of meaningless accessories if you wish to use your headset with the controller.

It’s a beautiful controller, seriously but as many have reported, the buttons will probably be replaced before the year is out.  They feel hard, and seriously after as much work as I do these days, my hands just aren’t able to take the incessant mashing required.  However, I played a few arcade games (Centipede, Main Event, etc) in Game Room and it really feels natural there.  So much so that I posted my best score in Centipede to date and honestly I do not think that is the highest I can get.  Main Event really was easy up until I got to the top champion guys which is expected.

I can certainly say that this controller will get much use where appropriate.  It was never meant to be a main controller but the cord is plenty long for me to sit in my easy chair and comfortable enough to play with as long as I get the buttons replaced in the near future.  It looks very easy to open up as well, which is a good first step as I want that process to be as painless as possible.  Very satisfied with what I have now, but still kinda amiss on the whole game thing.  Unfortunately, the game is going for ~$30 still (honestly I would have thought it be well under $20 at this point), so it looks like I’m holding off for the time being.

Record of Agarest War Zero

A while back, I got the limited edition to Record of Agarest War.  (It was being clearanced at Gamestop for all of $40 bucks).  While the box was mostly trash, the booby pad (yes, it is a mouse pad with two boobs that are inflated) is extremely comfortable (and hilarious) and the pillow case was a nice extra as a show piece.  Silly I know, but I like odd collectibles even if it comes across as extremely sexist based on the game’s content and suggested audience.  And if I ever want to involve myself in a very lengthy experience, the game is there for me.

So, there is a prequel out there called Record of Agarest War Zero which is the game pictured above.  As one would expect, it also got a limited edition.  Welp, I have been looking at it on and off for a while.  Sure, the extras aren’t as great (in my opinion) but its not bad.  It went down all the way to $16.42 when I purchased it this week.  That’s a pretty fantastic value, at least in my opinion.  Even for the game, that would probably be worth it.  What’s funny, is that 3 hours after I bought it, it was down to $12.95!  Now, its back around $25.    I’m not upset that I missed out on $3.50, but as with much Amazon pricing, I did find it entertaining to watch. Still a good deal and the game should be here on Saturday.

BTW, for those curious, there is a sequel named Record of Agarest War 2 and it has a LE too.  It has a small inflatable doll and a hand towel (classy).  However, it is only for the Playstation 3, so I will not be buying that one.

Writing

argh

Thankfully, I have the weekend to get some well deserved rest and I do have plans to get up tomorrow and at least write for a little bit, though later in the day we do have to go see my brother in law and his wife for dinner.  But at least Saturday or Sunday morning, I will make time and I guess that is really what I have to do.  At least at first until I get in the habit.  Because as mentioned, work is not working.  It’s not that I have to write at lunch, its that right now I don’t even really get a lunch.  I take about thirty minutes to stuff my face and breathe normally.  The above picture represents me inside pretty much Monday through Thursday and sometimes Friday (today for sure).

I know that some people get it and I know some people are probably shaking their heads.  It’s alright, I have never conceived myself as “normal” or the person that is going to fry in their cubicle until 70 where I’ll drop dead shortly after.  I mean, if that is all there is to life…what the fuck is the point?

I found my mate for life several years ago, and while I want many things for her, there are a few things I want for myself too.

1)I don’t want to stay in Texas.  My wife shares this vision, and even though I like my house, I know there is a better place for me to live.  A place with seasons and a place where I feel welcome.  For the most part, the last twenty years, I feel like I have been renting space.  I would like to live to the east like the Carolinas, but there are other places too.

2)If I can’t make a living at writing, find a job where I am not stressing every minute and every hour of every day while I’m working to get things done.  I don’t think I have the body to pursue manual labor, but I do have an incredible mind.  I don’t mind using it, but I am a creative individual and when I am put in a situation where all I get is repetition, my mind wanders badly and my mood turns sour.

3)Regards whether I can ultimately making a living at it or not, I want to continue to write until I die and get published somewhere physical.  Whether that is a book, a magazine, music, or something else, its going to happen.  I just have to find where I fit and keep going until I reach that goal.

And so it goes…and so it goes…

Final Word

BTW, Hitman Trilogy HD for the Xbox 360 drops Tuesday.  That review is coming for sure.  I would imagine by the following Sunday most likely.  It will probably be a little differently done than my Upcomingdiscs.com game reviews, especially with scores.  I’ve always been partial to 100 point reviews and I am doing this for enjoyment, so it probably will not be as structured either.  We’ll see what happens, take care kids.
