Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, AstroPop, Medal of Honor: Airborne & Trine 2 added to Backwards Compatibility!!!!

Oblivion! Oblivion!!! MFING OBLIVION!!!!!!!!!!  In this case, the rumor was true.  And my $5 spent during the BF sale was a good investment (with my GOTY discs upstairs ready for DLC install). Fantastic news, the other three are interesting with Trine 2 looking to be something of a standout and a good sale candidate.  Good stuff, and a fantastic Tuesday.  I seriously want to go home right now and play Oblivion all night.  Enjoy.

BC Deals with Gold for the week of November 29th, 2016

Okay, I probably went a little overboard with the Xbox Live Black Friday sale and capped it off with the deluxe version of Plants vs Zombies 2 Garden Warfare Deluxe Edition which was only $17.50.  I think I got 4 games total digitally during that sale.  (Mega Man Legacy, Oblivion (which I’m still hoping for BC), Virginia and PvsZ2 ) That’ll make up for the fact that I barely spent anything on Amazon or any of the other sites on Black Friday or Cyber Monday.  Anyway, as expected, this week will probably be slow in terms of news and well sales too.    The only 360 sales are the Worms titles which have been rumored for BC a million times but have never come through.  Maybe this will be the week, we can only hope.  Enjoy.

Burnout Paradise, Rayman Legends and Pure added to Backwards Compatibility!!!

Welp, this is why I don’t like to mention rumors.  No Oblivion (or Modern Warfare 3), but Burnout Paradise is certainly welcome even if it was supposed to happen a long time ago :).  Rayman Legends already has a port on the Xbox One (and the XB1 port was free for a month too) and Pure is one of those games you saw in bargain bins for a $1 (it was on plenty of combo discs).  It’s a great announcement, I just be lying if I wasn’t a little disappointed.  Ahh, Rumors, you double edge sword you.

  • Burnout Paradise $14.99 (if you don’t own it on digital or disc, wait until December 16 to get it for free)
  • Rayman Legends $39.99 (much cheaper on disc and you probably already own it on X1)
  • Pure (not available on the Xbox store, but you can get it in a bundle disc with Lego Batman (also BC) or by itself for very cheap)

Games with Gold for the month of December 2016

Well this month is a little bit better than last month that’s for sure.  I do own both Sleeping Dogs and Burnout Paradise.  But Sleeping Dogs is a fantastic game (and rightfully deserved my money) and Burnout Paradise I got on the cheap.  But there is something more important here…Burnout Paradise will be BC before the end of the year.  No more waiting, it’s happening kids.  Outland is good too from what I hear.  Good stuff, and there should be a BC announcement in about 10 minutes.  Enjoy.

Xbox One Games

December 1-30th – Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition

December 16th-January 15th – Outlast

Xbox 360 Games (both BC)

December 1-15th – Outland

December 16-30th – Burnout Paradise

BC Deals of the Week for November 22nd, 2016

So, I started the Telltale Batman game this past week.  I have had the disc for a month or two and kept telling myself I needed to get on with it.  I did, it’s been a blast so far and I will finish up the first episode tonight.  Anyway, we do have a few new sales this week in addition to the sales from last Friday.  Plus, I heard a rumor that Elder Scrolls: Oblivion and Modern Warfare 3 will be going backwards compatible possibly as early as today.  I hope that’s true.  Anyway, a couple more little sales today, a Duke Nukem XBLA game and Sonic & Knuckles.  I will mention that Sonic & Sega Racing is not a BC title (at this time) but Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed is.  Now, I fully expect the former to be BC very soon, just not today (or rather at 7:00am in the morning today :)).  So, enjoy, keep your fingers crossed for a BC announcement later and away we go.

BC Deals with Black Friday Xbox Live Style (Starts Today for Gold Members)

So, Black Friday for Xbox Live started late yesterday.    It is a good smattering of sales but so far I’ve only purchased Mega Man Legacy Collection for X1.  At $6 for 6 games, that is too good of a deal to pass up on.  However, I always like to look at sales beyond the sales.  Or in other words, predict the next backwards compatible game.  I understand it is all subjective, but I do like the fact that Fable Anniversary is showing back up.  That is the last major Fable game not in BC and rightfully deserves to be.  I also like Mafia II here, though I still think it has a tough road to BC.  Other Non-BC that I think warrant intention include Oblivion (at an amazing $5), Quake Arena (they keep trying to sale price it) and the Saints Row games not named IV.  Something is bound to break loose and hopefully we’ll see it leading up to Christmas.  Lots to enjoy.  So go ahead and do so.

(Note: On Capcom Arcade Cabinet: All in One Pack: You still need the base pack at $4.99 to play these.)

Military Madness: Nectaris & Omega Five added to Backwards Compatibility!!

Welp, we usually get another couple of games on Thursday, and this one was no different.  Military Madness is actually an updated version of the Pc Engine/Turbo Graphix game.  I would easily buy it on a sale but some strategists might find value in it at $9.99.  Omega Five is another game published by Hudson and is in the vain of a classic shoot-em-up.  Again, I’d probably bite at a sale price but not $9.99.  Still glad to see more games, and especially more Hudson published games.  Enjoy.

Backwards Compatible % Revisited 1 Year Later

When I started reporting on Backwards compatible to the Xbox One news, I had a simple premise.  Here are 131 games that I voted on through Microsoft’s service; how much of a chance do they really have of being made backwards compatible.  Four percentages were assigned, 99% (It’s going to happen), 75% (It most likely will happen), 50% (maybe, could happen), 25% (probably not going to happen), and 1% (not going to happen, but never say never).  I was probably more positive than most.  Well, a year later, 89 of these are still not part of the Backwards Compatible program.  I figured a re-visit was in order and to examine how many of these still have a shot.  Maybe deep down, I’m too pessimistic this time around.  Maybe after watching the releases for the last year I finally started to understand what Microsoft and the Developer/Publishing companies are really pushing to the BC program.  Find out more inside.

Dead Space Ignition and Escape Dead Island added to Backwards Compatibility!!

Welp, an announcement and two more games. I think the more important thing, at least out of the Dead Space Ignition announcement is that this means they are gearing up to release Dead Space 2 on BC.  DSI if you remember is actually a companion game to DS2 and if they are releasing the companion game first, then its a near certainty DS2 is right behind it.  Watch, I’ll be wrong, lol.  Anyway, Escape Dead Island has a few fans out there too, so this is most welcome.  As it turns out, for those new to Escape Dead Island, there is a meaty piece of Free DLC w/achievements too which there is a link to below.  Enjoy!

Deals with Gold for the week of November 15th, 2016

Welp, I finished Mars: War Logs.  The hardest fight was certainly not the last fight, it was instead this three part fight they stuck in a mission prior to the final mission.  I won’t spoil it, but I will say be sure to have health injection packs ready.  I finished the game with the Honor ending, now I will be going back and play the Third chapter over with the Resistance to get that ending.  Then I will move on to something else.  Interestingly enough, I might be moving to the lone BC deal of the week, Bound by Flame, another Spiders title.  I already own it on disc, but if I didn’t…be assured at $5 for Digital, it’s a bargain.  So enjoy this week, I’m sure we’ll have a couple of good announcements in store.
