Games with Gold for Month of April 2018

Looks like the new Games with Gold are being announced today.    I’ve almost bought Witness a few times and outside of Black Flag, this is the Assassin’s Creed I’ve probably been interested in most.  So that’s pretty awesome.  On the 360 side, Dead Space 2 is certainly worth playing and some of us with kids ought to be happy about Cars 2.  All in all, it’s one of the better months in a long time.  Enjoy kids.

Xbox One

  • The Witness (April 1st-30th)
  • Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate (April 16th – May 15th)

  • Dead Space 2 (April 16th-30th)

BC Deals with Gold for the Week of March 27th, 2018

Welp, first I want to apologize for this getting to you so late.  Life happened, so unfortunately I had to push this aside until I could give it the proper attention.  I did finish the Necromancer DLC in Diablo III over the weekend and promptly started Batman: Enemy Within.  I am nearly through the first episode and figured if I can do an episode a week, I’ll have it done before the end of April which is good enough for me.  In the meantime, I’ll be on the look out for some other game since I usually like playing two games at the same time (I get bored a lot less quickly).

Here are this week’s sales which include the spring sale.  As you can see, this part of why it took me so long.  There is a regular sale, but there is also Spring sale items as well.  So, that is that, enjoy until next week (or GWG or a BC announcement).  For sale items, just click on the -Read More-.  Enjoy kids.

BC Deals with Gold for the Week of March 20th, 2018

Welp, I did 100% Letter Quest.  The Crystal Stars came extremely easy once I had a bunch of upgrades along with maxed out books.  As mentioned previously, I am very happy I completed it and with zero help from any of those scrabble sites.  I went back to Diablo III over the weekend and I finished Act V with my necromancer.  I am currently sitting at level 68, doing bounties.  I should be 70 very soon, and hopefully in short order also finish off the Skeleton Crew achievement.  That will clean up the Necromancer DLC for me.  At that point, I will probably put aside the game, 4 achievements short of 100%.  I’ll come back to it later in the year for the rest, but I have no desire right now to put a hardcore character thru the paces and work on 500 bounties.

On to sales.  Not much to see here unfortunately.  I do think Dragon Age 2 is coming to backwards compatibility very soon though.  Scourge Outbreak possibly too.  Anyway, I’ll probably only grab Mr. Pumpkin Adventure from the X1 side because it looks like a quick, cheap and easy experience.  I guess that’s it, have a great week.

Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Future Soldier, Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker HD Edition and Axel & Pixel added to Backwards Compatibility!!!

A nice trio of games added to BC today. I am most happy about Axel & Pixel actually because I picked up on a sale before it was delisted.  (Which I imagine others will not care so much lol).  MGS: Peace Walker is an odd choice by itself when the Metal Gear Solid collection offers three games, all of which should be on BC.  I would guess that is remedied though within the calendar year.  I don’t have much to say about Future Soldier except it should quiet the Splinter Cell/Ghost Recon/Rainbow Six crowd for at least a few weeks.  So that’s a good thing.  Enjoy.

BC Deals with Gold for the Week of March 13th, 2018

Welp, I never really thought I would say it but I am one achievement away from 100%-ing Letter Quest.  Down to the 40 crystal stars achievement and 16 of those suckers to go.  I finished the Endless achievements this weekend and that’s the only thing left to do.  The funny thing is they seem much easier now that I’ve bought almost all of the upgrades from the shop.  The boss stages are actually easier than the ones where you face 4 or 5 monsters when it comes to crystal stars.  So unless one comes up that’s really a pain, I should finish it up this week.  Then I guess its back to Diablo III.

There is not much to see here this week in the sales.  Well, unless you like Call of Duty (which is unlikely because I regularly bash it here) that is.  I am looking forward to see if there are any new BC games this week.  We really haven’t had many arcade games lately which is a shame.  There are still a few I would like to see such as Outpost Kaloki X or the Worms series.  But unfortunately those chances seem slim now.  Enjoy the rest of your week.

Hitman: Blood Money and Lego Star Wars III: The Clone Wars added to Backwards Compatibility!!!

Well, these were eventually expected but it is nice to hear them anyway.  I tried playing a Hitman game once, I murdered everybody in the first level and then put it away never to be seen again.  I think I missed the point of stealth.  Lego Star Wars III is in my sell pile, and I thought about removing it…but it’s one of the worst Lego games, right up there with Indiana Jones 2.  So, hence it might as well stay there.  I am however hoping that Lego The Movie or Lego Batman 2 is right around the corner. A good pair of games, enjoy your day.

BC Deals with Gold for the Week of March 6th, 2018

So I’m still playing Letter Quest and I have officially hit 50 of the 60 achievements.  I have 9 regular stars left (out of 120) and 29 crystal stars left (out of 40).  I still have the endless cumulative achievements as well.  I was also able to clear off all of the Letter Quest, well quests.  All 70 of them.  To be honest, they were fairly easy…far easier than True Achievements led me to believe (with people spending gems to skip quests or what not).  I know I will get at least 59 of the 60 achievements.  That odd man out is the 40 crystal stars which is all of the stages played with elite monsters.    That’s going to be tough, that’s why I only have 11 of them so far.  Oddly enough, the boss stages are easier than the ones where they have 3 or 4 monsters.  I am also proud of the fact that I have not used one of those Scrabble websites yet.  All words came from my brain.  Nice to know college taught me a few things.

Anyway, we have quite a few Backwards compatible games this week.  I’m not sure I will grab any, but I will certainly take a look.  Hopefully we get a BC announcement or two..Crackdown while big last week felt a little underwhelming.  Enjoy kids.

Crackdown added to Backwards Compatibility!

Well that was done rather unconventionally, now wasn’t it.  What seemed like a harmless post actually contained a BC announcement.  I mean I’m happy about it, but when they have always done their announcements the same way, well it’s a bit confusing.  Anyway, Crackdown should be in most people’s library already considering it was a very popular GWG offering.  Also, it is ridiculously cheap on disc.    The only issue is the DLC, some of it free, some of it requires a little bit of dough.  By all means though, do play through the game at least once, it is quite worth it.

BC Deals with Gold for the Week of February 27th, 2018

Welp, another week with Letter Quest.  Up to 45 achievements (out of 60) and 97 of 120 regular stars.  Ran into a toughie, aka Hard Level 10 which I have beat but the time trial is kicking my butt.  I’m sure I’ll eventually get it but it is giving me fits at the moment.  Haven’t really played Diablo III because its right at the end of Act V and I remember the Fortress taking more than an hour which is usually how much time I have in the evenings.

Anyway, sales are upon us.  Now, normally when there are no BC games in the list, I consider it a pretty forgettable week.  But there is the potential here for some Tekken Tag Team 2 action, especially for Kingdoms of Amalur, Need for Speed Carbon or Hot Pursuit and either of the Sniper games.  Besides, NFS: Carbon or Hot Pursuit are excellent future GWG fodder because MS loves their racing games.  We’ll see what happens a little later, but I’m willing to bet at least one of these games will be BC before the end of the week.  Enjoy.

Vanquish, Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light and Disney’s Pixar Brave: The Video Game added to Backwards Compatibility!!!

Well there is three more in the kipper.  Vanquish is certainly the unexpected highlight of the bunch.  LC: Guardian of Light was expected and probably will be a future GWG, call it a hunch.  Finally Brave was more or less already known by the previous post.  But good stuff,  Vanquish will probably take some doing to get a good copy on disc but will be worth the effort.
