Just Cause, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror Fate HD, and Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 added to Backwards Compatibility!!!!

Now that’s a mouthful.  A lot of games going to BC today. I only actual own Castlevania: Lords of Shadow in a nice little limited edition that I don’t think I ever opened, lol.  But these are excellent games, and worthy addition to the BC library.  Interesting note about Castlevania: LOS but there is a complete edition disc which include both pieces of DLC as well as Mirror of Fate HD.  Something to consider if you want both of those games.  Enjoy!

Games with Gold for Month of November 2018

Looks like the new Games with Gold were announced this morning.  The interesting thing about Battlefield 1 was that the premium pass was given away for free not too long ago which means essentially you play the entire game for free after November 1st.  Quite a nice perk if you like the series.  I’m actually happy with the first Assassin’s Creed as I’ve never played it and was always curious to see how the series started.  Dante’s Inferno is another good one that I never got around too and I actually sad that I sold the physical copy when I did.  Well I reckon I’m getting it back.  I will have to look into Race the Sun but a solid month overall.   Enjoy.

Xbox One

  • Battlefield 1 (November 1st-30th)
  • Race the Sun (November 16th – December 15th)

Xbox 360

  • Assassin’s Creed (November 1st-15th)
  • Dante’s Inferno (November 16th-30th)

BC Deals with Gold for the Week of October 30th, 2018

Still playing Minecraft Story and Batman: Arkham Asylum.  Minecraft Story, I just finished Episode 6 (this was the first episode I actually felt was interesting) and Batman, I’ve entered the Arkham Mansion and currently exploring and solving riddles (up to 25% currently).  I’ll keep tag teaming on these two games (since that formula seems to be working well for me) until I finish one of them (Minecraft Story more than likely).  Then we’ll see where we go from there.

So we do have some sales this week.  I’m hoping Max Payne 3 becomes BC this week and it also just happens that it is on sale as well.  But most people have been hoping for Max Payne for a while now.  Heck, some people have gone as far as to want MP 1 and 2 on the original Xbox to go BC as well.  (Which I do not have an issue with).  Also, if you don’t have it, be sure to pick up Phantasy Star 2 this week.   At half off, it’s super worth it.  I wish Sega would have released the other Phantasy Stars (1,3,4) in the single game with achievements format.  Maybe they will if the Final Fantasy classic games dropping next year do as well as everybody is thinking.   Enjoy kids.

Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy & Tropico 4 added to Backwards Compatibility!!

Well, we can file this under a complete ho-hum.  I’m sure there are a few Tropico fans (and perhaps old Lego game fans), but this announcement doesn’t do much for me.  I keep hoping for a few more arcade games to go BC but it looks like those ships have sailed.    So I’m not sure what that means for games like Worms or Outpost Kaloki X.  But I’ll keep up hope for that the same way many of you are hoping for Max Payne 3 and others.  Enjoy.

BC Deals with Gold for the Week of October 23rd, 2018

Welp, I did mix in a new game along with my current usuals of Minecraft Story (done with episode 5) and Batman: Arkham Asylum (Bane down).  3 Count Bout, an old Neo Geo title made new again by Hamster Corp who is putting out every Neo Geo title legally they can get their hands on.  It’s a wrestling game that plays like a fighting game for the most part similar to Saturday Night Slammasters or Def Jam Vendetta.  I was able to 100% the game in a little over 3 hours with absolutely no help (though I asked for some).  Nice little accomplishment, TrueAchievements lists me as the 2nd person to finish the game, I’ll gladly take that.

Anyway, we do have some sales including something called Shocktober this week which lasts until Halloween.  Unfortunately, Major Nelson had a broken link so I’m having to cull at least the BC sales from other sources.  Once he posts an official working link, I will update the post but in the mean time here are some various links to help you along.  Enjoy (and hit the more for all of the BC sales).

Crysis 1, 2 and 3 added to Backwards Compatibility!!!

Expected, but glad that this finally came around.  In one of those rare cases (I usually go for physical copies), I actually have all three of these in digital format.  The sad part?  I played the third one for a hot moment (made it through the tutorial) and that’s really about it.  I mean I’m sure I played the original on the PC, but this is one of those series that I always say I will get around to it and then never do.  But great games, and worth taking a look at.  Enjoy.

BC Games with Gold for the Week of October 16th, 2018

So the last week, I’ve been only playing two games.  Minecraft Story (finished episode 4), and Batman: Arkham Asylum (about to go through the first Scarecrow section).  Re-playing Batman AA has been a blast and even though I’m familiar with a lot of what is going on, it is still something of a new experience.  Also the X1 port is freaking awesome, a lot of little tweaks I’ve noticed and appreciated.

Anyway, we do have some sales this week.  There is a lot on this list that should be backwards compatible but is not like Duke Nukem 3d, Final Exam and RAW.  I really wish there were a few more arcade BC games coming out but it really seems like they are focusing their efforts on the retail releases.  Maybe today will change that, enjoy kids.

Metal Gear Solid HD Collection (2 & 3) added to Backwards Compatibility!!

After Peace Walker, it was a safe bet that this was going to make it eventually.  I still think if you can find it that the disc set is a much better option and worthwhile purchase.  Enjoy!
