10/23 Update on Backwards Compatibility Voting

Welcome to the 14th iteration of Backwards Compatibility Voting.  In the last week, I played more of Project Spark, more of NCAA Football 14, and battled with my apartment complex as well as the bank providing the loan on my new house.  I won some, I lost some, and some are still to be decided.  But on the battleground known as Backwards Compatibility, we are nearing closer and closer to the magical month of November.  Voting is picking up, and while there are the usual favorites, there are some titles in the mix I have not seen in a while.  Let’s go inside and see.

The three amigos…also known as Deadpool, Outrun, and NCAA Football 14 are 1st, 2nd, and 5th this week respectively.  However, standing right at #3 and #4 this week are two surprise entries, Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes (a fine game I need to replay one of these days) and Murdered: Soul Suspect (I have a sealed copy I’m trying to get rid of, lol).  Might & Magic has a chance of making BC but Murdered probably not so much since there is an Xbox One equivalent…usually the death blow.

From there, we do see the Two Worlds titles popping in as well as Divinity II which keeps showing up now that the third game is on its way.  Worms 2 despite already being in the preview program has a strong showing as #7 and I’m glad to see Rumble Roses XX grab a spot again at #10.  Provided the title wasn’t made by Konami, I would think it would be released for BC since it continues to have its cult following.

In the utterly confusing department, there are several titles worth mentioning though.  First being, Diablo III which has an Xbox One equivalent and Blizzard has went on record to say that they aren’t updating or having anything to do with last gen copies.  Then there is Golden Axe which is completely random (the other Sega Vintage titles were strong, but not that strong).  In addition, we finish off with Record of Agarest War Zero and Raven which are probably statistical abnormalities more than anything.

The final title, Tales from the Borderlands popped up as the last title due to the final episode in their series going live this week.  Most regular followers should notice that Crysis 3 is gone from the top list, sitting at #18 (1.89%)  I can safely say I predicted that one.  Overall, most titles are moving in the right direction and we should get more and more votes until the first batch are announced sometime in November.

Anyway, in other news, I am still working on the closing of my new home.  I won’t mention names to be polite, but I spent an inordinate amount of time in the last week dealing with my apartment complex.  They would NOT sign a verification of rent and fax it back to save my life…until we signed a notice to vacate…by the end of January next year (when our lease ends, lol).  Which was so necessary, but we did it and promptly….and then until we basically started yelling at them, it was that they did their job and send it to our bank of choice for the mortgage.

At that point, people inside this banking establishment sat on their butts and did not Chase the documents to get things finalized.  As a result, our closing date got changed, not once but twice.  From Wednesday of this week to Thursday of this week, to…Wednesday of next week.  People were bringing up Friday, today as well but all that was going to lead to was another extension.  I knew it for sure.  So we just set it a week ahead and will keep working towards that date.  It’ll happen.  It’s a good looking house, and I will have a dedicated movie room upstairs and place for my games, movies and books.  By then when I move, the first batch of BC games should be out and I can take an honest look at my 360 collection, and keep what’s worth keeping.

Until then, I will keep messing with Project Spark and NCAA Football 14.  Project Spark, I’ve amassed fifty eight of the achievements by last count and I’m well on my way in NCAA 14 to get the max trust of the coach and be able to quarterback my own darn game.  Part of me wanted to start Dynasty mode, but Road to Glory seemed to be a better choice to get me familiar with everything that has changed in the last 5 years since I’ve played an EA football game.  As probably echoed by everybody, not a whole heck of a lot.  At its core, it’s still Madden, 20 years ago.  But it’s still a lot of fun.

Anyway, that’s it for this week.  I wish I had a few comments on Wasteland 2, but I haven’t even unwrapped the sucker.  I’ve watched a few Twitch streams and it looks ridiculously up my alley.  But every game I start is pick up and play.  Play 4 quarters in NCAA (15-20 minutes, maybe half an hour at most), play some Crossroads in Project Spark (15-20 minutes), or complete 4-5 bounties in Diablo III (yep, you guessed it 15-20 minutes).  Wasteland is going to take a couple of hours just to figure out what to do. But I’ll enjoy it for sure.  Take care kids, and maybe unlike me you’ll start something new this weekend.  Take care.
